No they don't.

If 05 12 28 37 42 come up the first time

05 12 28 37 42 is just as likely to come up as 01 02 03 04 05 or 06 13 21 33 37

/numbers in this post will likely be the winning numbers to the next powerball :(

Nice try, but no. It'll have the same chance as computer generated numbers each and every time.

How so? Each drawing of the set of numbers is independent of the previous drawings. The odds remain the same. Your chances don't increase at all if you play the same set of numbers everytime. There is no concept of 'this set of numbers is due because the combination hasn't showed up for the last 10 drawings'.

your odds of winning never change btw.

A better question would be:

For people who actually buy these tickets; Do you buy them because its somehow "fun" in your POV or do you actually believe you can win?

We are reading your post, and your post is stupid. actually your logic is stupid.

How can you think that you choosing your own numbers will result in more correct numbers being right? It doesn't matter if you pick them, a computer, or a monkey...it's all random and each case has the same chances of hitting "X" number of correct numbers.

I believe you're the real moron here.

From the FAQ's on www.powerball.com
"WHICH HAS THE BETTER CHANCE OF WINNING: COMPUTER PICKS OR PLAYER PICKS?
About 70% of purchases are computer picks. About 70% of winners are computer picks. "

If you just want people to read and not respond, get a BLOG.

You asked if picking your own numbers was better than letting the computer. It was explained to you why it's no different. What do you want?

While that is true, I am referring to those who post things like "oh I have a better chance of winnign if I draw my own numbers" or "if i use the same numbers for 5 drawinsg, my chances go up"

Hey buddy, go back and read your own stupid posts. You consistently made posts thinking everyone was an idiot for not "reading your post" while the truth was that you were wrong.

i'm thinking picking your own might be better because when the computer picks, its never anywhere close to what the winning numbers are. i only ever get 1 number if that.

noob, understamd p[robability theory 1st!

This is incorrect.

Since the winning number combinations from previous weeks lottos are not removed (i.e. they could occur again) then your odds remain the same.

For example, you flipped a two headed coin 100 times in a row and all 100 times it landed on heads...what is the chance that the next flip will result in tails? -> 50%
