Do you ever post anything non-retrded? ;)

Do you know how to spell? :| If you're implying any sort of sarcasm or joke, I don't think it's funny, and you're just simply trying to compensate by putting your issue in the spotlight and giving your audience the impression things aren't as bad as they truely are. Cut your wrists, takes pics, post on atot please.

You post was rather childish and off topic.

The first thing I do most of the time is video drivers. I cant stand having the screen at 600x400 at 256 colors. Plus when its like that, moving windows around it runs like ass. Then updates.

I have a slipstreamed disk with SP2 on it. Does SP2 have the latest directx included? I've run into problems in the past if I don't have the latest directx before loading ATI drivers.

One guide I was said to boot into safe mode and run cleanmgr/sageset:50 at various points after the install. Anyone do this?

First thing I install is the .inf files. However I'm trying to determine what other files off my motherboard are necessary anymore since SP2 may take care of some of them? USB driver, USP Patch, LAN, etc...? Anyone know or know a way to find out?

Also, anyone know if Intel Application Accelerator is worth it?

Thanks

Slipstream the new DirectX into the CD.

Intel recommends OS updates first, followed by chipset drivers, then video, audio, and other device drivers.

Slipstream the new DirectX into the CD.

I take it that SP2 doesn't have the latest Directx then?

I don't really know how to slipstream. Only way I managed this one was using autostreamer and a guide. It is basically for adding SP2 only. I don't know how to use nlite to automate the install or add more drivers etc... wish I did.

What directx file do you use anyway? I seen end runtime which is a really small file and then I have seen other much larger ones. I was told that DirectxC is on SP2, but I guess this isn't the case?

I don't even plug in the internet cable until drivers are installed.

I do use a slipstreamed SP2 disk, but it's about 6 months old, so it's still safer to not plug in until I'm ready for windows update.

Steps I take:

1. Make the appropriate BIOS settings.
2. Boot Knoppix to check the hardware.
3. Boot the install disk with only one hard drive, a CD-ROM, and the video card and install the OS.
4. Install motherboard device drivers
5. Install video drivers
6. Install the rest of the devices
7. Update

System Clean Install? Check.
Huge Porno collection intact? Damn, forgot to move those new 4 gigs I dumped on the C: partition last night in a hurry.
Kick myself in the ass and leech more porn over my 128kbps slow connection.

Bonzai Buddy and Kazaa are the first things I install. Three shortcuts to each on the desktop for quick access.
