When you hire the wrong "Photoshop guy" / Dell marketing

I'm going to need you to explain what's wrong here.
The bottom arrow points to them showing an Intel socket with an AMD Ryzen installed. Ryzen sockets look like this:

The top arrow shows the AIO cooler hanging/installed onto the motherboard some way above the socket (despite all four mounting holes being empty):

I think they were showing the cooler moved out of the way to reveal the incorrect socket. It's hard to tell but the screw heads on the cooler look suspiciously like generic hardware store wood screws.

Ah, I figured the cooler was being shown out of the way to expose the CPU, but still present for visibility.
If it was able to be installed where they show it, it would damage the motherboard capacitors and fan connector.

I don't have a problem with them showing the with and without photos of it, it's just the very lazy effort of whoever did this job. "Intel socket and Intel CPU? Let's just put AMD Ryzen on the CPU instead". 😀

Well there isnt any power supply and also their BIOS has no battery. So its obviously a lazy effort. Personally I think you are in an excess of effort here.

So that is how Intel showed their latest offering being superior to Ryzen? "We'll just put a Ryzen lid on a Pentium 4! Brilliant!

well, it's an Intel socket for one, and as IW said, that giant Alien badge should be blinking all the known colors and those not currently described by science.

oh yeah...now I scrolled down --didn't think about how they just plopped the CPU on top of the Intel-designed socket, haha. ...I didn't realize that was supposed to be the heatsink for the water cooler.

I don't even get why they would need to Photoshop something like this, it's not like they don't have a warehouse full of everything they need lol. Then again with everything being made in China these days maybe they literally never even see their own product.

the average person buying this has no idea of what you are pointing out...any serious gamer who could point this stuff out is probably not buying a pre-built system...

the only thing that matters is if Dell passed on the saving to the consumer...but the safe answer is probably no...

While we're on the topic, what is the banner graphic for this article supposed to be/mean?

It could have easily tied in with the "It: Chapter 2" promotions. 😛

That's OK.

They still should be shamed for it. 🙂

Marketing even if it is a part of the company has zero access to anything they have to rely on whatever management gives them, they can't just stroll down to the warehouse and take anything they want.

I think the problem here is this is actually fraud. They're passing off something clearly not the product as the product you're buying. Sure it's not meaningful to most people, but it is misrepresenting it. Its not even a revision of the product you're buying.

You would think that for this actual purpose they would bring them down to the warehouse or bring up some parts that were rejected or something. Just seems odd to me to solve a simple problem with a more complicated one, especially if it's a piss poor job.

How is getting several departments involved and spending several hours simpler than a >1min PhotoShopJob?
It's crap yes but it still gets the advertisement message across loud and clear "WE HAVE RYZEN MOBOS AND COOLING" job done.
It's not like they would have more sales if they got a real mobo into the hands of a super model riding a tiger while looking at a lion and drinking perrier.
