When you are going to steal an election....the first thing you have to do is discredit the polls.

I don't think that's what all the Republican arguments about "biased" polls are all about. For one thing, people who aren't good at math will easily buy that the polls were wrong...discrediting them would be an unnecessary step in stealing an election. For another thing, "stealing" an election is only practical when the polls are within the margin of error anyways. Forget people noticing the polls are different, people will eventually notice when a massive number of votes are miscounted or ignored or a ton of people are prevented from voting. And at the end of the day, I don't think enough Republicans (or anyone) would really work towards stealing an election.
The way some (but not all, by any measure) Republicans have lashed out at the polls really just seems more like an extension of their rejection of journalism and fact checkers. If it's saying something you don't like, it must be biased. After all, YOUR understanding of the issue can't possibly be wrong
