When would the best time to buy a PS3 be?

The monoprice cable is Mini-HDMI to HDMI. You don't want that.

The Amazon cable looks TOO cheap to be a decent cable. I don't see anything about what HDMI version it supports or what the wire gauge is.
 
You linked to an hdmi to dvi cable.

it would be ok if you have a tv that only had DVI input. But if we're basing it off that samsung then you just need a regular hdmi cable.

Just scroll down until you see cables in various colors.

Take your pick of colors and length. I honestly do not know the difference an hdmi that listed as CAT2 and one that is not. Monoprice has them in to seperate categories. I bought a bunch of cables nearly a year ago when there was no such option.

If you're like me with multiple devices that use hdmi get different colors, makes it easier. Only choice then was black. so I had to label mine.

 
Anyone have a recommendation on a cheap quality cable that I can use to hook my PS3 up to a component input.

I have a TV that has 1 HDMI port and 2 component inputs. Currently I have my HD-DVR hooked into the HDMI port and a standard DVD player hooked into a component input.

I asw a sony brnaded cable at BB but it was about $30. Anything at monoprice cheaper?

Worse somes to worse I can move the HD-DVR to the component input and put the PS3 on the HDMI, but since I'll use the HDDVR way more than the PS3 I'd rather just leave it the way it is.
 
Just got my card...and i also got my credit increased too. 🙂

Anyway, the card mentions all the rewards, but fails to mention the fact that i get $100 off of a PS3...should i be worried? Maybe i'll just call them. Anyone who has this card have this problem?

it never does. what they send you is pretty much a generic letter with all the normal stuff about the card.

just make your ps3 purchase, register for account online then check in on it every few days to see credit.

Keep up on it just incase they screw up. It took me 3 months and some bitching before they gave me my credit. Others get it in a few days.

hit up your local target. I've seen them clear out component cables for the ps2/ps3 for some time. psyclone brand ones. YMMV of course. That's if you want it right away.

If you plan on keep your tv for a while. Might be worth it to get an HDMI switch. monoprice sells several types. 2x1, 4x1, 5x1, etc.
 
Those of you looking to get the 80GB bundle should head to Walmart today. They shouldn't be selling it until the 12th, but some stores apparently are. I just got back, and came oh so close to getting one. I struck out though, because the guy didn't have to keys to unlock the cage in the back, where they were stored. When he got the manager, she started to open it, but then she remembered they she wasn't suppose to sell it yet.

I didn't score, but you might. This guy did!!! Good luck! They are giving a $100 GC if you buy a PS3. BB will match it, but you have to bring proof, so be sure to get this weeks circular.

been calling or going to all of them around me...no dice. i think the stores closer to the distribution area have them.

Calling a Walmart is a waste of time. They should all have them by now.
 
Going crazy, need PS3 since i just got my HDTV. If i purchase a PS3 at frys will i still get $100 off? Trying to figure out if they are an authorized dealer.
 
Yes, Frys is an authorized dealer. Here is the list for online authorized dealers. As you can see, Frys is listed.

I'm with you on going crazy. Both of the Walmarts in my area only have 6 of the new bundles in stock. That means I'll have to go to one of the Best Buy stores that will be open at midnight on the 12th. I really don't want to do that, but I don't want to miss out on getting the $100 GC either.

Yeah, it would be nice to get the extra $100 at walmart, but i dont know if its going to be feasible. I think i successfully bribed a Frys employee to hold one for me, but if not, i will just go wait there in the morning at 7a.m. I also pre-ordered one at CC, just in case i dont get one somewhere else first. If i do, i'll just cancel it.

What pisses me off is that i really dont give a shit about all this; more or less, i want a blu ray player and the new controller. I'm not such an MGS4 nut.
 
If my bribe is successful, great, if not, i will have to wait in line either late at night somewhere, or early in the morning at Frys.

Newegg isn't listed as a sony authorized dealer...nooo. Maud, for that matter, only frys.com and bestbuy.com are listed. Does this mean that the card still works in the store, or only on the website?

It will work in the store. I just posted authorized websites because I knew where it was. They also have a site for authorized stores.
 
Don't forget your netflix subscription. A couple of good "show off the HDTV" titles are
- The Fountain (the space scenes especially)
- Curse of the Golden Flower (the palace colors are intense)

Blu-ray to feed the new PS3. I rent 99% since I rarely watch a movie more than 2-3 times and I can always put it back in my queue.
 
Already one step ahead of you; i got netflix and three blu-ray movies already 😀 And i just bought GTAIV for myself. Needless to say, if i dont get a PS3 on thursday i will be fucking irate. 🙂
 
YES, TARGET PUT AN MGS4 PS3 ON HOLD FOR ME TODAY!! i called five minutes before they closed so i have to wait till tomorrow.

question, target came up as an authorized dealer, but not the specific location where i want to get it from. am i correct in assuming that all targets are sony authorized dealers?!
