When would the best time to buy a PS3 be?

think ill just sign up for the card on the first of June. I should be approved...i dont know why it asks your household income....im a poor college student living at home for the summer so im afraid theyll not approve me :\

Household income is used to determine the level of credit they give you. If you only make $5,000 a year they aren't going to give a CC with a $5,000 limit.

If you've never had a credit card before or any other type of credit history, they may not approve you. It really just depends on their lending criteria.

Unless you aren't working, you should try anyway. I got my first cc when I was a senior in high school.

you know what...maybe ill just apply now. If i get it, great, i can wait till launch and hopefully get one. If not, i can make my dad or something apply a bit later so i can have it for after launch. I figure if i dont get one on launch (which i probably will get one) there wont be any available w/in 45 days anyway.

I agree with you on the launch thing. It kiils me that I'm going to have to take a day off to get a damn game.

Good luck man!

Thanks man.

Well, i applied and it said they'd notify me within 30 days in writing. I think the problem is that i put 10000 for annual income (i'm a student, i don't really even make that much, but i just put that because of the amount i work for the stores we own). Kinda sucks if you aren't an 'adult.'

Guess i will wait and then ask my dad for his info lol. Or i suppose i can try to apply through the sonystyle link...i hope they aren't a pain in the ass to deal w/ for defects/damages and stuff.

Good luck to you too.

Nothing like lying to a financial lender. Good way to build trust. 😉

omgggggg the link to the sonystyle card asks the same damn information. i have no hope 🙁 guess i'll ask my dad when they formally reject me.

If it asks for household income (as opposed to individual income) you can list any and/or all income from yourself or anyone else in the house that can pay for that debt. Technically you could have put some of your parents income if they were willing to cover you.

I just saw this on FW:
Text

If you're 20 you should probably look into the pros and cons of signing up for random credit cards before you actually get one.

it's not very random though, because i wouldn't use it after this purchase and only need it for the $100 off, and i'm 100% sure that i can pay it all off right when i get the item.

question...if i get this tv, all i need is an HDMI cable from my PS3 into the TV, right?

Perhaps it is not my business, but if you are looking to purchase that TV, I don't understand why you would be so worried about saving a hundred bucks on a PS3 purchase. Don't get me wrong, 100 bucks is 100 bucks, but you are looking at a 2,000 TV (very nice one, I might add) then I don't see why you would be so 'worried' or 'nervious' as stated in your post.

Anyway, to answer your question - Yes, all you would need is an HDMI cable.

I have to agree. 🙂 Most people worried about saving $100 would probably be looking at a 42" plasma in the $1000 range. lol.

well itll be the 40 or 46 inch.

Reason im worried about the PS3 and not the TV is that the 40 or 46 inch tv is for my parents' house (living room), so it is THEIR money. I will contribute some of my money to that, which i'll play on and watch tv on in the summer, but at the end of summer or beginning of the school year when i go back to university, i have to buy another fucking TV (smaller, with all of my own money).

So your questions were valid; i didn't explain enough. 😀

thanks for the advice and stopping by! Looking back, i do see how i could be really annoying. Sorry, i just dont buy stuff (especially expensive things) very often, so i get kinda uhh...excited.

That makes total sense now. I know it is your parents money and again, this might not be my business, but just make sure you really research your options for them. Typically when people are spending someone elses money, they tend to skimp on the research side of it. I regret that I did that with my fathers TV about 3 years ago. It wasn't a 'bad' purchase, but I could have done better for him if I really spent more time researching. But, he is happy and that is all that matters I guess.

Nothing wrong with getting excited about your purchases either. It is better to ask questions and think about it carefully than just jumping in blindly. You are then able to avoid much of that buyers remorse... You know, the aching feeling that you just spent a few thousands dollars and could have found it cheaper, or a known price cut was just a few weeks away. In that case, ignorance of the price cut is bliss!!!

I filled one out for my g/f.

last year I got in on the $150 deal with 0% financing for 12 months!! hot deal and I didn't even buy anything on sonystyle, the credit was automatically applied 🙂 so I bought other things with it, Diesel jeans I think.
