When would the best time to buy a PS3 be?

no offense but you really should go do some research instead of having people on here spoon feed you exactly what the PS3 can do. it seems like you have no clue wtf a PS3 can potentially be used for yet you are debating if you should purchase one.

How about some more information on this MGS4 bundle? I was just planning on getting a 40GB version for $299 after the Sony Style card rebate but now I'm intrigued by this bundle.

Is it rock solid that it will be out June 12th? Is it a lock that it will come with a DS3 controller?

If I aplly for the card now and get it in 2 weeks, what are the chances that I will actually be able to get a MGS4 bundle (assuming they will be backordered) within the 45 day period?

Opps, forgot to ask. Will the 80GB version in th bundle be the 45 nm version?

I'm waiting to see how each console handles Fallout 3, with the additional hope that by fall there may have been price drops or the (MS denied) rumor about a future 360 with a Blu-Ray drive turns out to have substance. Like any technology, if you wait long enough you'll eventually be able to get something cheaper/better - it all depends on your pain threshold.

I heard that that the special gunmetal version will only be 40gb, but the regular one will be 80gb. And it will def. com w/ the dual shock 3, but no one knows if they will be 45nm. Coom, that's my problem...i am scared i will get the card and not be able to find the bundle. Thats why i am going to apply a bit later and hope they approve me within a 2 week period. Im scared i wont be able to find it :

Naddi, i thought about that. They seemed pretty sure, but no one knows when it will come. Plus, i personally don't care for some of the games that are big hits on the 360.

Dave, by receiver you mean our cable/satellite companies receiver, right?

My understanding is you get back $100 on your FIRST purchase with the card (as long as the purchase is $299 or more), the 45 day limitation only applies to the "12 months 0% APR" offer.

BTW I was approved instantly, there was no waiting period to find out. I already have an Amazon card through them though (and the new account shows up online). I'm just waiting on my card in the mail.

-edit-
OK after reading their terms the other guy was right about the interest. They actually start accruing interest from the date of purchase. I've never had an offer that required both a payment each month and deferred interest.

Also, any and all purchases of $299 or more in the first 45 days are 0%APR for a year (so long as the balance is paid in full by thats years end).

No, an audio receiver if you have real surround speakers. If you're using a PC speaker set with an optical digitial input then an optical digital cable to that. If you will just use the TV's speakers then all you need is the HDMI cable to the TV.

Where to buy: SonyStyle might be OK if they have free shipping. Other stores might throw in extras like the remote control or a store gift card. You'll need to wait until stores start advertising the bundle.

Note that the 40 GB gunmetal supposedly will cost the same, but almost certainly lacks the memory card readers and the PS2 backwards compatibility.

Heh, that's weird...why would you want that if its worse, but costs the same amount of money? Don't know. I read a couple places (and the people at gamestop) said that it would be 80gb, but some say 40gb. Thanks for the info.

The questions this guy keeps asking are truly awful (i.e. can easily be found anywhere). I guess some people just need others to hold their hand.

Based on the questions he's asking, I have to wonder what questions he doesn't know to ask. Educate yourself as a consumer. Wikipedia is a good place to start.

Yea, you'll need to buy a separate HDMI cable. Monoprice seems to be the favorite these days, I still stick with BlueJeansCable though (they have a variety of HDMI cables from expensive to cheap).

-edit-
You don't NEED HDMI per say, it all depends on your TV and what you think looks best. Component cables look better to some people, or your TV may be older and not support HDMI, etc.

Thanks for the headsup Whitman. Did you use this link to apply for your card?

I'd like to get instant approval. Of course if I plan on waiting for the bundle I guess it's not 100% necessary.

If the bundle comes out June 12th shouldn't we expect to see it soon for preorder? It's less than 1 month away............

I used the other link(This One) that allows you to buy it at any authorized dealer.

My card actually came Wednesday so I went ahead and ordered the PS3 and some goodies to go with it. Should be here tomorrow (gotta love Amazon Prime, $3.99 for overnight 🙂)

Cool. There is definately two different routes to go with this deal. I think I'm gonna skip the instant approval and use the same link you used. And as much as it pains me I'm gonna wait for the bundle on june 12th.

Which version did you get? 40GB? Did you pick up another Sixaxis or get a DS3?

heres something odd...there is less than a month left for this bundle to come out and i cant find any stores online that even list it...why?

Yea, I went with the 40GB. I have no need for backwards compatibility and I can always upgrade to a larger HDD later if need be. I actually bought two DS3s, so I guess I'll have three controllers?

They delivered GTA IV and the third season of Lost on Blu-Ray, but the other stuff had to be signed for and I wasn't here 🙁. So I'll get the rest of it tomorrow.

has anyone been able to find stores that allow pre-orders for the bundle? Or even stores that acknowledge that they will sell them?

It seems that they will all be sold out before i can actually use my card, and then i wont get the $100 off. o nooooooez

I could probably get one at the gamestop right next to our store, but im not sure i want to buy it there.

I don't know of any pre-orders, but the EBGames in the local mall has a big poster on the wall that shows all of the contents to the bundle. Exactly like everyone is saying........80GB PS3, MGS4, and a DS3 controller for $499. Also says the stock date is June 12th.

Not exactly sure what you are asking?

You mean applied for the sonycard? If so, from what I've read if you don't get immediate approval it's been taking about 2-4 weeks before you hear again from sony. People that are getting immediate approval normally get there cards within 7-10 days.

I applied last wednesday and got instantly approved. It said I'd receive my card in 1-2 weeks. I've alaso heard fo some people getting it in 4-5 days.

Was EB taking pre orders for the bundle?

No they weren't. They had the poster advertising the bundle but weren't accepting preorders. Clerk said they expected to have 6-12 unites on release day.
