I think tou have a better chance of holding a corporation responsible for the actions of its officers than ever holding the Catholic church responsible for the action of its priests.

If the people in the Catholic Church were serious about the problem you wouldn’t wait decades for the leaders who covered up the crimes to retire or die.
I think you fail to understand that religion is a cult, nothing more. Facts, have no place in their view of and support of the cult. A Trump supporter and a bible thumper have simply been brainwashed, and accept the bullshit they are fed, without question.

If people were serious about stopping gun deaths, I guess we could just do something about it. Annual deaths by gunshot are around the number of children molested in the past 50 years in the US. Obviously, it's just not that simple.

Some have, just for that reason. But for the majority of the faithful - this is how we live our faith. I can't explain it to you, one has to experience it. Our need and desire compels us go to mass, to offer God our love and gratitude, to receive the body and blood of Christ in Eucharist. We aren't going to just 'walk away' from that because there are evil people in the world and that applies to some priests in the Church as well.

I'm done here. I don't think there is anything else I can say. People are set in their opinions and my perspective as a Catholic isn't going to change that.
and would you feel the same if your local priest molested your kid? or is it easier to just pretend “well it hasn’t happened to me so it can’t be that bad”?
