Does anyone know when online stores such as EBGames will start taking preorders for the Xbox360? I haven't been able to find anything.

Thanks,
Phil

they already do, in store atleast.

I went to EB this weekend and they were sold out of preorders already, so I went ao gamestop in the same mall, and they too were sold out.

Then I remembered that a mall closer to my house was renovated and had a gamestop in there, so I went to that one and reserved it there. next time I get paid I'm going to be trying to find another place I can reserve one so I can sell it online.

That's why I'm wondering when they will start taking them online. Also, I'm home in NYC now and I go to school in Chicago, and the Xbox360 will come out while I'm at school. So online is kind of important for me.

Maybe you could call an EB in Chicago or something and try to pre-order it over the phone and pay by CC? I think they would understand the situation, although you won't have a hard copy receipt. But they will have your name in the computer and stuff.

It's worth a shot. I know I'm not making a mistake like I did w/the PS2. I waited from midnight until 9am when Target opened. my friend and i were 27 and 28 in line, and they ended up only having 30 ps2's. but we didnt know there were 30 ps2's until about 8:30 when employees started showing up and they were handing out tickets to people in line that were numbered 1-30. It was funny too, cause around 4am the people in the line decided to make our own list of the order and take names down in the order you were in line, in case people tried to cut in line.

well when the employees came and everyone in line told them we made this list, they gave us the tickets based off our order in that list, and about 4 people had cut in line and didn't end up getting a ps2. the line had grown to over 60 people so a lot of people left empty handed.

granted, ps2 didn't have crap really at release though, lol.

I promise
1) pre-ordering won't make the release date come any sooner
and
2) there will be TONS of these everywhere on release date. You'd be hard pressed to find a store that'll be sold out.

Nothing recently had this problem. DS? Everywhere. PSP? An overpopulation of 'em.

you are joking, right? PSP was NOT easy to get on release date, at all. Same goes with the Gamecube. If you didn't preorder, you didn't get one for about a week. The same goes for PS2. I'm not sure about XBox because I did not get one at release.

heh wow dude, where were you when these consoles were released, or maybe you live in the boonies.

Maybe you should actually "drive" a little farther away than downtown cities. I live in a populated place, and PSPs were everywhere. On eBay people couldn't even sell them for retail b/c there was a "fake shortage", and in reality the units could easily be found in 1-3 stores around you.

If you think Microsoft (think about that company a sec) is gonna let their new system have a shortage on release day, you're crazy. You may hafta try 3 or 4 stores, but you'd get one. Heck, camping out for systems is half the fun anyway.

The 360 launch will be huge, MS will most certainly not hurt their future by having a shortage.

I'm not trying to be a dlck dude, but you really don't follow console news do you.

XBox 360 shortages already being predicted.

I don't know about you, but now that I'm out of college I work 8 hours a day mon-friday, anbd i don't really have time to camp out and stay up all night to get a system anymore. if i did, yea i would do that. but i would much rather have it GUARANTEED than have it up in the air and waste taking a day off of work read my post above about the ps2 launch that i camped out for.

hell, even though i have it guaranteed, i am probably going to go wait in line at midnight to pick it up and take a day off of work (sick day).

and if you think the PSP is even REMOTELY as big a deal as the XBox 360 is going to be, then yea, like i stated, i guess you really don't follow console news at all.

Amazon and buy.com already had preorders. They sold out and have since pulled them until they get assurances that they'll have more on launch day

Both EB and Gamestop have stopped taking preorders because they know they won't have enough to guarantee a system for everyone. I was told Gamestop is only going to recieve 20,000 units NATIONWIDE, when you split that up between all the stores, its something like 20 per store on launch day.

It's only recently that I believe Microsoft has sent the final units to production. Between now and fall, they can only make so many units, it's not going to be an infinte supply.

As for driving to 3 or 4 stores or camping, why exactly would you waste your time and money doing that when all you needed to do was preorder one? You don't even need to pay in full.
