When will there be value in upgrading a i5 2500k for gaming?

About the only exciting development in PC upgrades in the past couple years has been the rise of SSDs IMO. All my upgrades in the last few years have been largely pointless. I switched to a rig with no overclock and the ability to to do vt-d for vga passthrough and I'm just sitting on it with nothing more than some video card juggling. I don't have much time to mess with things these days anyway.

I run a 2500K daily at 4.6ghz and dont see a reason to upgrade. I have the itch and want to due to new features in the newer chipset, but it's not that much of an upgrade. Probably will wait for Skylake and DDR4 before upgrading and putting the 2500k in the HTPC.
