When will the Yankees....

pass the Redsox for 1st place in the AL east division? They do it every year, this year they just have to work a little harder being 10 games out with 75 to go. I am a Redsox fan and a Yankee hater. I'll say they will take the lead about the middle of August.

I am a diehard Yankee fan and Sox hater. I don't think the Yankees will win the division unless the Sox really crash and burn. But hey, anything is possible and I am not counting them out just yet.

I, too, am not ready to count the Yanks out. I hate the Yanks so I'm happy to see them where they are, but there's the lingering possibility of a Yankee come back.

I, too, am a lifelong Yankees fan. But I can tell you that without a pitching staff, they will be lucky to play .500 ball this year.

They have a decent shot at a wild card because after the all-star break their first 28 games are all played against sub-500 ball clubs, but as has already been said unless the Red Sox completely collapse thay won't be getting caught.

That's one thing about we Yankees fans we stick it out.. good and bad, we're not just fair weather fans.

Yankees fan at heart, but I've been to Fenway several times and never actually made it to Yankees Stadium yet. I enjoy both teams because the rivalry is what makes baseball exciting to me. 10 games back isnt much as the second half just started. Unfortunate injuries always occur and can put a huge spin on things very quickly.

True, but Carbo is at his most miserable best when his team is really bad. NY fans are usually pessimistic, but Carbo takes it to a new level. 😀

Hehe. . .ThePresence is in the house, ladies and gentlemen!
How are ya? It's been a while since I've been around these parts.
You think I'm pessimistic now? Wait 'til training camp begins in three weeks. I've got my sights on Tom Coughlin big time! 😉

What are you talking about - Giants are the team on the upswing. </sarcasm> In all seriousness, this was the first off-season where I truly didn't care of follow what the Giants were doing.

Red Sox have 15 games vs. Tampa Bay in the 2nd half. The Yankees are not catching Boston for 1st.

Red Sox, for some reason, have not really done well against tampa Bay when it really counts...

Also, it's the Yankees....you can never underestimate them. That said, i do not think they will surpass the sox this season. Their pitching is inconsistent.

Yanks have gotta play .750 ball to make it to 100 wins, and that's what I think they'll need.
As a lifelong Yankee fan I have to admit, it's unlikely, but not entirely impossible. Yanks are on a bit of a tear right now, shame there's a break.

Yankees will make a run and get close to catching BoSox sometime in September, but the Sox have to crash badly in order for the Yankees to have any real chance on top.

ARod will injure his sphincter when he visits San Francisco for the All Star Game and will have to sit out rest of the year on IR which will doom the Yankees season.

Except when you became a yankee fan. 😀 Or maybe you're just the other 50%. Seriously... I wonder why there are so many Yankee fans in the world... how many of them are true fans ?

I was born and raised in NY which makes most of us instant diehard Yankee fans.

meh, 50/50. Why not the Mets ? I know family can contribute to a lot of people's decisions too. I wouldn't say 'most'. Born and raised too - Queens. Guess why my other half of the family are Yankee fans... yup... they won a lot more. While they're die-hard now, the reason they became Yankee fans in the first place... ugh.

Back in the 1980's when the Yankees were bad, there were a lot fewer Yankee fans & those that were rooting for them then are true fans ... 75% of the rest are front-runners who only jumped on the bandwagon when the team started winning wouldn't stick with them if they hit a down-period.

Proud to be a Yankee fan in the 80's when they sucked.
Rickey, Windfield, Barfield, Claudell Washington, Tim Leary, Steve Farr, Scott Sanderson, Steve Trout, Joel Skinner, man they sucked. 🙂

Yeah they pretty much did ... great batting line-up but no quality pitching at all ... case in point: Andy Hawkins. 🙂

Although I'm a life-long Mets fan, I'm also an avid baseball fan & have followed the Yankee's since the early 1970's.
