Hitman takes aim in wrestling war

WWE have confirmed that Bret Hart will guest host Raw on Monday January 4, as they go head-to-head with Hulk Hogan's debut for TNA.
Hulk's arrival in TNA, along with flagship show Impact's one-off move to a slot against Raw, has created talk of a new Monday Night War in the US.
Many predict that if TNA draw a good rating then Impact may move permanently to a Monday night to recreate the legendary WWE v WCW rivalry of the 1990's.
WWE had claimed they weren't worried about the threat from TNA and Hogan, but secretly did a deal to bring Canadian hero Bret back in what they're calling "perhaps the biggest announcement in WWE history".
A statement on the company's website read: "Hell must be frostbitten and winged hogs must have been spotted overhead. On January 4, 2010, Bret Hart returns to WWE.
"For years, the world presumed that the day would never come for the almost mythic Hitman to once again step foot on the WWE turf of Vincent Kennedy McMahon.
"Hell would freeze over and pigs would fly — requisite impossibilities — before the true pink and black would ever again be seen on WWE programming.
"As unperceivable as it may be, the new decade kicks off with perhaps the biggest announcement in WWE history.
"Bret is back."
Hart's return comes as somewhat of a surprise considering his very public fallout with Vince McMahon in 1997.
The Excellence of Execution was involved in the infamous Montreal Screwjob that year which saw him controversially lose the heavyweight title to Shawn Michaels in his homeland after legitimately not being told the planned finish of the match.
Hart and McMahon's relationship further soured when Bret's brother Owen died due to an equipment malfunction during his entrance from the rafters at an Over The Edge pay-per-view event two years later. But they now appear to have resolved their differences and The Hitman will return to our screens next week.
The January 11 edition of Raw sees WWE attempt to counter a special UFC event headlined by Gray Maynard with Mike Tyson as guest host.
