When will the GF3 prices drop ? ?

I am going to invest in a new system soon and I am wondering since the GF4 just came out how long will it be before the GF3 cards will drop in price? This is my 1st time to build a computer and I am not too familar with the market. Thanks 🙂
 
When you see an actual Ti4x00 card out in a store, give it about another couple of weeks to a month and the GF3 should drop in price cause nVidia is trying to phase the older GF3 cards out with the introduction to the new GF4 cards.
 
When GF4 cards finally hit the market, u probably wont be able to find anymore GF3 cards out anymore... In anticipation of releasing their GF4, Nvidia has already stopped shipping the GF3 chip around a month ago...

So all the GF3's u see in stores out there are just the store's stock... once those are gone, they wont get anymore except GF4...

So my guess is GF3 prices wont really drop that much... if u wanna get a cheap video card though, u might wanna look at the Radeon 8500... the price of that one will remain approx. the same when GF4 comes out, but it will have 128MB memory instead of 64MB!
 
I've already seen the GF4 MX versions in EB stores so far, not the TI series(4600, 4400, 4200).
I think there are quite a few GF3's left but you will have to find them, especially at the online retailers.
I'm sure they will drop in price cause the newer GF4 TI cards will be better and close to the same price as the GF3 Ti cards are now so they will have to drop prices or else noone would buy them.

I'd rather have a GF4 TI4200 rather than a GF3 TI200 even if it does cost me $50 more, or a Ti4600/Ti4400 rather than a GF3 Ti500 when they are around the same price as a Ti4400.
 
I'd agree with BCYL. I have been shopping around for my new rig since late Jan, and noticed most of online stores having GF3Ti500 OOS.
 
The GeForce 4 Ti series are already out... my local computer shop has MSI made GF4 Ti4400 & Ti4600's in stock already...

However they did not drop the prices of their GF3 Ti500... it's priced the same as the GF4 Ti4400

Hopefully, the retailers (online and otherwise) will find themselves stuck with a bunch of Ti500s when the GF4 Ti 4xxx cards become available. This would insure Ti 500's at under $150 I think. Now, if I was a retailer I'd do my best not to have any Ti500s around when the Ti 4xxx cards become available. Nvidia probably isn't shipping the GF3, and retailers probably don't want them at this point either. They're just counting on catching a few suckers at the $300 price point with their remaining Ti500s.

It's a pity the retailers and Nvidia have figured out how to foil those of us who always stay a generation behind to save money. On the bright side, I won't have to wait anymore. I can upgrade within a couple months of a new product release and know I'm not spending any more than I would have if I'd waited another 3-4 months for the debut of the next card. So, when's my Ti 4200 gonna hit the shelves? Did I read 8 weeks for the 4200?

Yeah, Ti4200 in approx 8 weeks... 4400 & 4600 are available now...

I personally wouldnt buy the GF3 even if it's price drops... I would pay a little more for the Ti4200 since it offers better performance than a GF3 but is better "equipped" for future games...

But then again, I dont plan to upgrade anyways... my little GF2 GTS is keeping me happy... 🙂
 
I'd still buy a Ti 500 if I could get it in my living room for $150 (that means shipping included). Right now, $50 is a sizeable chunk of cash for me cuz I had to buy a new car for the wife. Geez, talk about cutting into the hardware fund. 🙂

That's incredible. I haven't heard of any available yet. I would buy a Ti4400 right now if it was.
In fact I think it would be front page news if was out right now.
