When will the forums reach it's "critical" limit

Seems like with all this growth in the forums there will become a time on these forums where there will be so many people on that the rate of posting will eventually stop people from logging on since the incidence of new posts being shoved into the 2nd page and the amount of people posting the same thing at the same time would increase until people got fed up with it, I am guessing it will be somewhere around the 1000 - 1500 range.

Eg.

topic: What is better, A GF2 GTS or a Voodoo 4?

Newbie: was thinking of buying a computer and not sure which to put in, I am looking to spend about $300

P1: GF2, definatly

P2: GF2

P3: Get the GF2, its way better

Smart ass: hey get the voodoo, it will kick ass over the GF2

P4: The GF2 has better memory bandwith and performace, get that 9edit: oh, I see, someone else has already answered[/edit]

Smart ass2: All your Voodoo are belong to us

Whiner1: Man cant they stop it with the All your... stuff already

Whiner2: I totally agree with you!

and so on...

I am guessing the member rate would reach a natural equilibrium and stay there no matter how many extra members actually subscribe to the forums

My guess is that entropy will increase in this system, but it depends on how much it will increase whether the system (AT) will collapse or not.

Actually, I think they've already hit the critical limit a few times. They just made changes...like adding mods! I remember seeing a locked message for the first time. It looked strange.:Q

When it happens again...they are gonna need to make some more changes. More strict modding? Maybe? Maybe there will be some creative solution.

all your "critical" limit....

sorry, hadnt done that one before.

I agree with you though-lots of neffing, people posting needless posts (this one isnt so great itself, but at least it's on the off topic), etc. Should be ok, though-I figure the mods will become stricter, leading to less members/less neffing->an equilibrium

Its not even the neffing, Its just that there are so many genuine people who want to help that in the end, newbies are overwhelmed with replies until most experienced helpers just stop helping because they assume someone else will do it for them, and yes, there is always the smart ass.

BTW: philosopher, turn your PM on, nice to have you back!

<< neffing?

What is neffing?
>>

A collection of useless posts/threads. In a Nef(c) thread most of the neffers and whiners can be seen.

Mods hate that kind of threads and posts, but it seems like people here like to irritate the mods...

Bah, we really, really need a FAQ, If AT cant be bothered having one, maybe we can see if we can get www.neffing.com to host one so that everybody can point to it when someone asks

Jmaster, you forgot the capitols.
Should be more like "ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!"
