When will the desktop Pentium-M be released?

its a long long way off.... I would expect prescott to be intel's desktop cpu all of 2004 .... prices arent even on the horizon yet.

It may even be more than a long way off - there is very little market for a Centrino in a Desktop - low power consumption is not really a desktop issue since they do not run on batteries. IMHO, the market probably does not justify the investment.

Why would you think in this way? They should run cool enough for a passive heatsink to handle.

they are planning on bringing the pentium m to the desktop, but you wont see them till 2005 in there dual cpu core chips, or so the rumors go

Found the link for the story

The 1.5+ GHz versions are going to be hard to cool passively, unless you start playing with airtunnels and stuff.

I want one because it would run cool and have excellent performance. In fact look at <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://

PorBleemo changed his post making my comments irrelevant

Por, remember IPC means nothing if the clock rate difference is so great...

It will be a .065 dual core chip, likely with more cache, much hihger clockspeed, and intels new Low-K technology. It will NOT be cool like the mobile versions of the chip.
