When will PS2 drop their price below $299

What the hell does that mean?

Are you asking if Sony is dropping the PS2? If so, no. They will be coming out with the PS3 a little sooner than expected though (due to the Xbox and Gamecube).

If you're talking about a drop in the ps2, I don't know, but I'd think its bout time for a price drop considering its been out for awhile and has got competitors now

PS2 is still outselling BOTH XBox and GameCube. The library of games itself for PS2 is still by far much better than any other console.... I should know, I own all 3 systems. 😛

EDIT: Oh yeah don't expect a drop until the NIC and hdd come out...
 
people are saying on a ps2 forum that i regularly attend that it'll drop to 199, but i just dont see it happening. I'm thinking 249. But everyone seems to think that a drop is coming soon.

When Sony annouced the Greatest Hits collection coming soon, they also announced a price drop. They didn't say the actual figure, so it could be something like $249.99, but they did say it was going to drop. I'm trying to track down the specific article that said, but I'm not having luck yet. It was somewhere on videogames.com.

 
Virgin Megastore had that deal a while ago where you could get it for $200 with a little deal engineering... maybe another sale coming up soon. But that's far from a certainty...

I'll go ahead and assume that when videogames.com said they announced there will be a price drop, it was referring to this statement since it seems to be about the same time they announced the Greatest Hits.

When is E3? I'd guess that the actual drop will be a couple weeks after E3, so it might be a little further off than people are wanting to wait.

especially lacking the features the xbox includes, making you buy those as addons in the future
 
Murphy's law says that the price will drop when the 30 day price guarantee from where you bought the PS2 has expired.

I have to disagree. I have had mine since it launched and I would pay $299 for it today if I didn't have one. SSX (& SSX Tricky), Tony Hawk 3, Metal Gear Solid 2, Final Fantasy X, Gran Turismo 3, all of the EA Sports games and Grand Theft Auto 3 are reason enough to get it.

The Xbox may have better hardware specs, but until some more decent games come out for it people will continue to buy PS2s.

 
Over here in Australia it already has dropped in price....$494 AUS dollars atm and an extra $14 AUS nets you a DVD remote, DVD and a double CD. In US dollars that's $247 + $7 🙂
