When will politicians not have to cater to low brows?

It seems these days the only way a politician can get elected is if he shows an ad of himself in a filthy work jacket, sitting around in some small down diner, talking to a bunch of guys wearing John Deere hats and Wrangler jeans, probably near a farm somewhere.

I'm being serious. Seriously, is this country that uneducated and low brow that the majority of voters are a bunch of slobs who glorify working class culture? I see this in both Democrat and Republican ads.

It's a sad day in our country when a politician can lose an election because his TV ad involved him wearing a collared shirt and using 5 and 6 letter words.

Edit: And go ahead, call me a snob, but I just like to call it having enough "self esteem" shave in the morning and put on a shirt that costs more than $20.

Who grows the food you stuff in your face? Why would a farmer or a mechanic want to wear an expensive shirt? What a self-important jackass.

In more Agriculturally based areas that's just good PR. What's worse than that are Half Truth attack ads trying to paint the opposition as Dangerous, Criminal, and Evil incarnate. They do a lot more damage than appearing with the hard working.
