You're taking this the wrong way - the current drivers do NOT translate into what the card is capable of both from a performance standpoint and compatibility with applications the customers buy them for - games!

The current G80 driver set is quite rough in many areas. The scaling and non existent line drawing acceleration is inexcusable and this may never be fixed.

Nvida deals with a huge market share of the video processing field as well as many other related areas regarding cutting edge technology. Nvidia is a major player. Because Nvida is a major player Nvidia should and will do whatever is necessary to keep it that, even if it means they have to release a new driver every month. Nvidia is a good thing to this point. Competition is as well. I know nothing concerning the inisde orspecific details about Nvidia's business. I do expect the company to provide me with support that will make experience with their products the best it can be.

Nvidia is dedicated to providing the best possible user experience...

What is good for nVidia business wise and what they are required to do after they deliver a product are two different things.

You are not a nVidia product engineer - you are not qualified (nor am I) to say when a product has reached its max potential or even what its max potential is literally or theoretically.

The fact is, nVidia or any hardware developer for that matter is not obligated to provide endless FREE support after a product has been delivered and performs as advertised and as ORIGINALLY INTENDED. The only time this is not the case is if a hardware developer signs a SERVICE CONTRACT with the purchaser for continued support. And NONE of you have one, so tough chit.

If you think otherwise, I would love to see you attempt to force nVidia to release a new set of drivers for Windows XP every month without having a service contract.

I'm all for Nvidia. I'm all for hardware makers that are customer/consumer conscious. The customer is always right. Hard to fathom sometimes. You may be a naysayer. But. I make my money on this principle alone. It goes a long way.

Nvidia 6 and 7 products are still sold everywhere. I think five months between driver versions is a bit of what you might call customer negligence on Nvidia's part. But then Bill gates will end support for XP when the end is 'necessary'. I don't have a problem with that.

If you are having no problems then quit complaining. You can only push the cards so far with software updates. They aren't going to use their resources just to try to improve their drivers set for XP when they have been tweaked to hell since XP has been out. At this moment, the task at hand is getting VISTA drivers to be at the same level and I know that first hand because I have spoken with the man that is in charge of all the benchmarking and testing. Until, you are head of such a department or take part in such a department you have no idea of how the system works. So quit complaining about a 5 month period of no new drivers when your card performs perfectly fine. The most you can get out of new drivers is what, an extra frame or two at most? Just enjoy your damn card(s) and let nvidia do their job (work on Vista drivers)

People vote with their wallets. That's the bottom line. Money talks, bs walks.

So you toss your 6 and 7 series cards and go out and buy an 8800. Forget you paid $299 to $349 for a 7900GT less than a year ago.

I'm not complaining, I am making a point. If Microsoft thought like you why would they have service packs one and two.

You can get more than a frame or two out of many drivers. Quit being so easy to please before you criticize people for asking questions.
