I would think that they're already fairly close to the bottom, but that's just IMO. As long as they stay down long enough for me to build my gf's computer this summer, I'll be happy. All of my current systems are fine as far as RAM goes, except maybe my laptop.

It seems like every time I look there is a better deal on good fast memory. Makes me want to go to 1GB.

Well, Corsair 512MB sticks were around $105 and now they're already back up to $115 on Newegg, so I should order soon.

Thats because now they are giving "free" shipping on products like that, atleast thats what has happened to their other products

How would you know this? Because I'm going to build my system early June, I can buy my RAM towards end of this month if you have a good enough reason for why they will rise in June.

Because what goes up must come down, and when things go up, they go up very slowly :)

Generally speaking.... when it comes to computer parts... when the price reaches around $5, it has bottomed out!

This question has been asked 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 times....

Memory prices NEVER bottom out. They just go down and down and down and down and down....
It's been that way for about 15-20 years now. Do some research.

Obviously you are right Whitedog, if we are speaking of long term trends. But when considering an upcoming purchase, price fluctuations can be considerable. Last fall memory prices were quite high. I started this thread in the hopes that someone had heard some news of short term trends; like the very accurate news we got this past winter of memory prices forcast to drop in the spring.

Aren't memory prices at there all time low? You can get 256MB PC2100 from a good manfuactrer today for less than $25, last summer it was close to $100.
