actually, he hasn't hit the jackpot yet. if he gets better every year, his 6th or 7th season he should hit a major contract, 6 or 7 mill per year for 5 yrs or so. i don't see him getting a max contract unless he changes his work habits, but without question some gm would take him for 6 to 7 mill per season for his above average stats and "potential".

oh, no doubt. there's no way a 16 pts/game player deserves a max contract. especially not one who has yet to show marked improvement throughout his career. once he gets close to 20/10, i think he'll hit pay dirt.

again, you have to keep in mind, this is only Odoms 3'rd season. not many players achieved greatness by their 3rd season. also neither of his first two seasons were complete seasons, 29 games season 1, and 49 games season 2.

let him play a whole season before you make conclusive remarks about him.

to be honest, i didn't realize it was only his third season when i first posted this thread.

I have to add a few things...

Odom is physically talented, but he doesn't put the time into the game that he needs to for him to reach that 'next' level...I'm guessing that won't ever change with him, he's been this way for 5+ years now...

Rasheed Wallace is far more talented, but even less mentally able than Odom.....

McDyess? He is a shell of the player he used to be....and is still having some problems with his knee.....Odom over him at this point, anyday, any GM...the only marketable player on the Knicks is K.Thomas, and for a few teams, Houston...

Van Horn? Please, put him in the spotlight of the playoffs, which the Knicks won't be in this year anyway, and he fades big time...

weird, i was looking at that page earlier today and i could have sworn it had odom only being a 3 yr player. i must have just been looking at the wrong player.

well, if you look at it from profile view: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3327

it only lists the last three years....that could have led you to think he played only three years. (i did initially)
