When Will Deskstar 60GXP be released?

those bad boys are already out, just only overseas for some reason, dunno why?!?!?
use a search engine, u will find foreign stores carrying the 60gxp series hds

It's the next generation IBM drive which uses a 20 Gig platter thus offering a maximum storage capacity of 60 Gig.

Actually the 60gxp specs arent that much more impressive than the 75gxp. 2MB/sec improvement in STR in outer tracks, and no improvement in STR for the inner tracks-And these are IBMs specs.

75gxp use 15gb platters and are hence slower than the 60gxp series.

higher density at a given rpm yields higher throughput

I see, thanks for the info. Was planning on going with a 75 gig but now I'm wondering along with the rest of you when the 60 gig is coming...

I think the biggest improvement is the price. With 20GB/platter a 40GB would be as cheap as 30GB 75GXP, and a 60GB will be the same as 45GB 75GXP.

Wait and see the price drops. 😀
