When will Canada consider/request statehood?

Discuss.

Heck, for that matter, what about Mexico? All the related discussion I've heard about all my life was Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. CA and MX need to move up or move on.

No, I'm not serious. But, seriously, Canada = America's hat.

This thread is about hats.

What does Canada have to gain by becoming a state?

Mexico is obvious, but Canada?

Greatness. Seems obvious to me. Why remain mediocre when they could become truly great?

We're talking about Canada becoming part of the US, right? Not the other way around?

Nothing to gain from that.

Because we, the US, are awesome. Together, we're only slightly less awesome. That's a net gain of awsesome for CA. We'd have to come up with a state abbreviation. How about CX? As long as we don't annex the Christmas Islands, it's yours.

Well, keep your awesome. We don't want it.

Really, why? When you have your own to consider. ;)

Exactly. Our per capita debt is about a third of yours. That is more than I care for.

The irony is this "conservative" government spends more than the left leaning one it replaced. Even before the recession hit.

I think I would rather keep our ~$13,643 debt per capita than pickup your ~$40,300 per capita federal debt.

What does this have to do with hats? You're more able to afford them? All those rocks and trees could sure use some population to go along with them. There's an easy way to dilute your per capita debt: Count the moose and caribou that exclusively populate the larger territories. Give them RCMP hats and no one will notice the fraud.

If that happens I'll definitely move. No offense to you guys, I love me some Americans and a lot of American stuff, but I have no desire to live there.

We should just tax the canadians. They sit up there all smug taking advantage of all the perks of being located next to the US without paying for any of them.

Canadian government > US government :(

Canada should just annex the pacific states & and the northeastern states and let the fly over states languish and die.
