When will Asus P4T533 be available in USA stores?

Thanks

Somone must have an ETA for any of the stores. ETA usually is good date.
C'mon guys get busy e-mailing online stores.

just wondering if u knew that there seems to be some issues with pc-1066 and while it might be worth it to get the p4t533 b/c of the new interfaces (usb2/firewire) u might be better off using some older pc-800 if u have it laying around. i've heard of some stability issues with 1066. FYI.

Using the latest Asus Bios driver vers. 1005 appears to have resolved the "stability" issues, using 1066 with the Asus P4T533-C.

The only difference between this board and the P4T533 is one takes 1066 16 bit, and the most recent board takes 1066 32 bit rdram, removing the requirement of having to use the rdram in pairs, and seems to be more overclocking friendly.

Other then that, there is no difference in speed between 16 bit and 32 bit. They both have the same identical bandwidth of 4.2gig.

Terrapin

Terrapin i have 2 questions for u

1: r u from Maryland?

2: do u have the p4t533-c

???

and if u do have this mobo tell me how u like the onboard sound. onboard audio is wuts keeping me from upgrading to a 533 board. i know u can disable it but i'm anal that way 😀

Well, it looks like the ETA at Newegg is just two weeks away! See the bottom of the page.

Interestingly, its listed at $190 -- but without any 232-pin RDRAMS at all!

I did find one place here that claims to have 232-pin Samsung 1066 256 Mb RDRAMS in stock (at only a small premium over the 184-pin stuff. I'd be happier if I could find a 512 Mb module.

Anyway, it's a start... 🙂

🙂 You can get on a NOTIFY list HERE and they will email you when it arrives and then you can order. Big demand for this baby. The ETA is 7/22, maybe earlier. The price is $190. It appears the shipping will be free. CA residents don't have to pay any tax so I was told. The one price is for everyone was what I was told when I called. If you are serious about getting it you best get on the list ASAP, as it's first come, first served. When you do a search on Pricewatch for it, all the P4T533-C mobos come up, so you have to filter through the list.

If you absolutely can't wait you can get it at this rip-off place Here
I couldn't believe my eyes. :Q

They do have the 232 pin RIMM4200 512mb modules. Check out this review Here and you will see what the reviewer used. It's a great review. The problem is finding it. I called 3 Samsung distributors and I can't believe the 3 dumb people that I talked to. Nice to know your products. :disgust: One of them is supposed to get back to me tomorrow. If she actually does, I will post the info here. This is sure turning into a big PITA. Hopefully anybody else that can locate the above will also post the info.

It would appear that the newegg board does not have the (optional) raid/6 channel sound/LAN that the Upgrade source board does.
Personally, I do NOT want RAID or CMedia sound.

One must be very very careful when buying either PC1066 or PC4200 RDRAM.
There is "true" Samsung ram fron OCZ that isn't - it uses Samsung CHIPS only
There is Kingston using (supposedly) Toshiba chips
There is "true/true" Samsung that uses both the chips and pcb by Samsung and has their logo sticker.
There is "true" PC1066 RATED ram that is actually 40 ns or 35 ns, not 32ns. (Componentsdirect was caught at this scam). With the riveted clamshell you cant tell what speed chips are underneath.

For best results you MUST buy samsung/samsung sticks that have the -32ns printed right on top and the last serial number in the website ad MUST read -CN9 on both 232 pin and PC1066 RDRAM - NOT CM or CM8

🙁 Hmmmmm, you are right. No RAID, but it does say "Onboard Audio, C-Media Model#: P4T533 Special Free FedEx Saver Shipping " I don't care about the audio either because I've alread bought SB Audigy Plat. I did however want the RAID. I will have to call them again and ask about the onboard raid. I was planning to install 3 HDs. A Maxtor 20 gig 7200 for my system files and 2 Maxtor 7200 80 gigs and I wanted one of them to be hooked up to the RAID for working with large graphic files. The other was going to be for gamez and some appz. I guess I will call them and see what the deal is. I hate to wait any longer. I have everything already bought for my new system (except MB and Processor and case) and I'm getting antsy. Five years on a Pent 2 is enough.

Regarding the RAM, I totally agree. Only SAMSUNG. Kingston is just too iffy and has had too many issues.

Jilliew, I'm also sitting on most of the components (cases, hard drives, CR-RW) for a new system to replace my PII 300. 😱

And I'd also like to get a P4T533 with RAID so that I can have more IDE devices. Let us know what you find out.

I've also seem the reviews where they seem to have 512 Mb RIMM4200 modules, but I'm worried these might have been engineering samples (like the boards themselves) and we mortals might have trouble finding them. I don't want to fill one of the only two memory slots on the P4T533 with just 256 Mb. I want to buy both the board and the 512 Mb RIMMat the same time.

several reviewers stated that the boards will be available with 512MB ECC RDRAM bundled for ~$300-$350.
if so, that would be a steal since the ram alone is worth that much.

i got a hunch that as soon as the board is widely available, samsung PC4200 will magically appear. Samsung is really ramping up their production on all the 32ns stuff

Those newegg links you guys are placing in this thread aren't working, they go to the home page. Also, don't rely on newegg's notification service, it never works anymore. You have to bookmark the page and keep checking everyday.

Here is the link for it at newegg. These things have bound to go down, $190 is just waaaay to high.

:disgust: Well shoot, I don't know how much longer I can wait. The Newegg board doesn't have USB2 either The $288 board is Here It's loaded!!! Says it even has LAN, but I didn't think that board came with LAN. I decided the hell with it, I'm buying it, but they are sold out. They sold over 1000 in a little more than a week. I am calling them first thing in the morning to find out the ETA on more and see if they have a bead on the RIMM 4200 512 module. I'll also try to bargain them down a bit. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If you buy the board and then tell them you would like to buy the rest but someone else has it for xxx, they will go for it occassionally. Never hurts to try. The Intel 2.53 is $643 and the 2.4 is $418 both Retail. That's higher than Pricewatch retail which is $624/$371 I have decided I must have the 2.53. I've spent so much already might as well go the whole route. I wonder if they let you bring computers to the Poor House??? 😕

The board is Here also. It's $293 and the Intel 2.53 CPU is $676 and the 2.4 is $436 Now that's high and I'm not the desperate. And I would want to buy them both at the same place, just in case something went wrong with one of them I wouldn't have to listen to "it isn't our CPU it must be your MB" yada yada yada. Way better in the long run to buy both together.

Hopefully there will be more info tomorrow. If I don't get this board and processor soon, my warranties will be running out on the stuff I already bought. LOL!!! Hey Power Engineer, same problem for you also yeah??? 🙁

Hey Computer, the P4T533-C started out at $180 retail and it's now down in the $160s. So $190 for this board that will leave the other one in the dust doesn't seem like that much. But $288 does. But then again, if you want something bad enough...

Tired of the waiting game.

I don't understand just how many versions of the P4T533 are out? I would think if they are different (with and without LAN, with and without USB 2.0, et al) they would have different model # suffixes. There is already a BIOS update out for the P4T533...... that doesn't look good. According to the Asus website, there is only ONE P4T533 and it has 2.0 USB and no LAN. Link However on the specs page for it, they then list there that USB 2.0 IS an option. Specs page

So is USB 2.0 really worth it? USB devices are so slow and require drivers running in the background, so I try to avoid them.

Yep, most things do go down, but my luck with the P4 1.6a has not held up. Was 129, now 152. 1.8a is also going up. P4TE was 150, now it's only ............well, the search at pricewatch isn't working, it's pulling up P4S333 for the P4TE! But, a few minutes ago at a link from tomshardware, I saw it for 114.00

Okay Computer, here's the scoop. And yes I agree with you, it's very confusing. At times it's almost made me tear my hair out. Why didn't they name the damn board something else? Who knows. It's really causing mass confusion.

First there was the P4T533-C It's the lower end version of the new board, the P4T533 and yes, it was dumb to call it that. On that board, onboard audio and LAN were an option. It came with USB 2. RAID was not an option.

Yes, re the P4T533, on one part of the ASUS site it says USB 2.0 and on another part is say USB 2.0 (optional) and I do think it is optional. Why I don't know. I myself would rather have USB 2, it's faster than Firewire. USB 2.0 is not listed in the specs on the Newegg site. Also optional is C-Media and RAID. And according to the review there was no LAN on the board, but Upgrade Source said there is. That's gotta be a mistake. So each Model (P4T533-C and P4T533) each have options so essentially there are two versions for each board.

If a link is sending you to the home page just do a search from there.

Yeah, due to all this P4 mobo BS, I'm about to go AMD Socket A. I've been trying to decide on a P4 mobo for months, and every time I do, everyone is either out of them, or a new group of better boards comes out and takes another several weeks of researching them to find out what all they support and features they have, and so starts all these conversations all over again as to which board is which, whom is REALLY carrying which version of what board, etc, etc,..........sheeeeesh!! :disgust: Now as for this P4T533, looks like we all have to get on the phone and call all the vendors, and be put on hold for 45 minutes, disconnected, calling over and over again until we can find someone who speaks and understands English that knows motherboards to find out what versions of the mobo's they are selling.

Soooooooo.......what is best Athlon mobo??????? 😀

All the Intel processors were reduced drastically a few weeks ago. Here is how I search at Yahoo for processors "Intel P4 1.8" and a bunch of them came up. Not all Pricewatch searches are perfect, so if you don't get it the first time, try it a different way the 2nd time. And some things just aren't there at all. And it doesn't pull up the one P4T533 that is actually listed on Pricewatch (newegg), I found it by reading the whole list. The Intel P4 8.0 is supposed to be out in a few weeks. Early again. And then all the rest of the chips will go down again. It said it would list for $627, which sounds kind of odd, since most of the 2.53s are more than that now. Maybe by the time the RIMM 4200 comes out the processors will be dropping also.

Intel is hauling ass and that sort of worries me. They don't want AMD to get ahead of them again is the reason. Which is fine, but I hope they don't make AMD go down. Lots of people like AMD and it's competition. It also gives us a choice. Without competition there is no choice, we would be at the mercy of Intel, and and that's when prices will go up. HP and Compaq are no longer using AMD. I wonder how much Intel paid them to make that decision.

It's not a purrfect world. :|

Reduced??? Noooo, they have gone up, gone up a lot. The P4 1.6ghz 512k (1.6a)was $129 and it's now $152 at the same place (newegg). I just got a 1.8a for a customer and it was 163.50 @ GoogleGear, and the next day it was 166.50! Maybe the 256k units were reduced, but not the Northwood CPU's. The 1.6a "was" the best deal in P4's, now looks it it might be the 1.8a is the best bang for $. (These are ALL retail boxed 512k cache units I'm speaking of above). The 2.0a is only $189 shipped. Don't see 1.9a or 1.7a. FYI, Most don't realize (for an example) the 1.8 is only 12.5% faster than the 1.6 which translates to only a 6.25% increase in *actual* speed. You don't notice anything less than 10%. So,.....maybe the 1.6 is still the best deal compared to the 1.8.

You can't mean "P4 8.0", you must mean 2.8?? I don't know of any 8ghz CPU's out yet! 😉

Sorry Computer, I'm not real up on AMD, because I prefer Intel. At one time I myself was going to go AMD just to try something new, but I switched back to Intel. Is the XP2100 the star of AMD? Seems to popup in my head. Plus AMD does not have 533 FSB nor will they be getting it in the near future. None any of thier chips have the speed of Intels and I myself am into speed. The only Intel board that they are out of is the brand new P4T533 and most of the resellers don't even have it yet. It's the same with any new product. Don't blame it on Intel. AMD boards sell out also. Shoot., I started this new build your own computer project a year ago, but 10 months of that year was spent reading and studying and I've watched so much technology go by in a year it's unbelievable. But it was good, because in the end I was sure of what I wanted. So that's why I'm a little impatient now. Plus I have bought most of the stuff for my new rig and am now sitting on it. I'm just waiting on this Mobo. I had already ordered the P4T533-C and that same day I saw that ASUS wasgetting ready to realease the P4T533 which better suited my needs, and I sent the other back when it arrived. Normally I wouldn't do something like that, but this new board kicks ass. But on the bright side one more itty bitty short wait might save me some bucks. And at least I have a working machine.

Things could always be worse. 😀

Yeah, I meant 2.80. Been up all night you know. We are in the middle of a horrible heatwave here so it's up all night and sleep the heat away during the day. What else can you do when it's 112. But you are wrong about the Northwood chips not coming down. I have followed them for months. Several weeks ago, all the Intel processors, including Northwood (with the exception of the 2.53) went down. Some 32% and more. It ought to show up in the achives of this site. Now quit your bitchin and go do your homework. I already did mine. 🙂

Knowledge is power so call me Zena. LOL!!! I'm going to call Update Source now because I think they are back east. Then I am hitting the sack and will set my clock to 2 p.m, and call ASUS and Samsung.

Homework?? Geeeze, what is that? I haven't had homework in 20+ yrs. 😉

Starting about 4 weeks or so ago, the 1.6a and 1.8a RETAIL P4's started going up. I monitored them closely @newegg and pricewatch. Now they may have gone down for OTHER P4's, and like I said for the 256k units, but not for the 1.6a and 1.8a RETAIL BOXED units (the "a" suffix indicates 512k cache units AKA "Northwood"). I almost got the 1.6a when it was 129, and like a fool waited, and all it did was climb about $5 per week, as did the 1.8a. You may have been monitoring a specific vendor, but I was monitoring the CHEAPEST places that had them by checking pricewatch every day or so, and newegg & GoogleGear since they had the lowest prices on them. I can *assure* you they did not go lower in price, I would have ordered if they would have, and $129 is indeed less than (current newegg price) of $152. 🙂

As with all new technology, there are introductory issues.
