When will AMD go beyond their 4000+ for single core?

The title of the topic says it all. When do you think AMD will come out with their next processor(s) beyond the 4000+ which is 2.4 ghz? I know they just released the FX57 which is at 2.8 ghz but it's over 1000 bucks and I'm not really interested in dual core because I'm primarily a gamer who doesn't benefit from it.

They've got a problem, the 4200+ is already taken, and I don't think having an Athlon 64 4200+ and an athlon 64 x2 4200+ is a good idea.

I wouldnt be surprised if they started using odd numbers from now on to represent single core and even numbers for dual core. So for example the next single core processor would be named the 4100+ then 4300+ and so on 🙂

I believe AMD has stated the 4000+ is the last and highest rated of the A64 line. Any higher single core chips will be FX.

There will be higher single core cpu's eventually. Intel has Nothing released that AMD needs to bring out a faster cpu. The fastest Intel has to offer is 3800mhz. Do they even have a 4ghz cpu on their roadmap?? I am not sure. It will be some time before dual cores will overcome single core productions.

Pretty sure they cancelled their plans for a 4ghz P4 along with the whole tejas thing.

Why would they bring out any more single core CPU's? Anything that needs more than a 4000+ will probably be better off with a dual core anyway. And anyone who wants to pay more than the price of a 4000+ can afford an FX series.

I dont think we'll be seeing faster single core chips from AMD any time soon.

Another AMD flaw.

Great thread!

And its a flaw how? Explain yourself...

He's an Intel nutcase, and poor excuse for a troll all rolled into one. I usually just ignore anything, and everything he posts. Never anything intelligent to say. :disgust:

I wouldn't be surprised if eventually failed(in the manufacturing process) X2s eventually become Single Core > 4000+s.

This sounds like a reasonable assumption.

I doubt it. I think you will probably see failed Toledo's sold as 512K X2 (ala Manchester) cores though.

Depends on where the error occurs.
