When will a major DC sports team stop disappointing?

Redskins, Nationals, Capitals, Wizards

How long must I wait till a DC team gets the Ring in their respective sport?
Over/under is this decade

They've won in recent history. Cleveland has it the worst, but us Philly fans:

Phillies - 2008
Sixers - 1982
Flyers - 1975
Eagles - Never

Come over to the Ravens ...at least our owner isn't someone the fans hate 😛
We'll bounce back from today's embarrassment with the bye week

I think that next season will be very good for the Redskins. If someone showed you RGIII's highlights of today, and the RB (Morris) highlights - you'd be surprised they lost. And, by highlights, I mean the more skilled plays, not that the 4th and 10 scramble and throw wasn't skill; but it wasn't really a clean play.

The Redskins have been fishing for a franchise QB for a while now, but it seems they have it. That'll make them a playoff team. But the game is won and lost in the trenches. If Snyder never starts valuing OL and DL, they won't make a deep run any time soon. RG3 does some great shit, but right now he's in the same spot McNabb was early on - he's bailing out his line with his legs. Not ideal.

lol.. but the owners of Cleveland teams know they're not in a major market and cant pay the $$$ for premium talent.

DC team owners, on the other hand, pay out gobs and gobs of $ to no effect

This isn't true in football, thanks to salary caps.

Highlights don't win championships, ask Dominique Wilkins. Or in the NFL, ask Dan Marino, Barry Sanders, Ed Reed, Steve Smith, Tony Gonzalez, Larry Fitzgerald, Bruce Smith, Randy Moss or Derrick Thomas.

No matter how good RGIII might be, Dan Synder has proven to be a world-class waster of talent.

Right. The Cleveland Browns just draft poorly and make bad decisions in free agency. I do give them credit, they recognize that OL and DL are extremely important and have made some nice picks in those areas, but they've also missed quite a bit. Probably should have taken a shot at Aaron Rodgers at #3 instead of Braylon Edwards, too. A lot of teams can say that, though.

I will give the Browns credit. They've only taken one first round WR since they came back into existence. But it was Braylon Edwards. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the Browns value the right positions and have good draft strategy, but they evaluate personnel very poorly.

Yup. I said it in this thread. Snyder won't draft OL/DL high or spend money on them in free agency. He'll pay Adam Archuleta the most ever for a safety (at the time), trade 1st round picks like candy, but won't ever apply any of those picks or dollars for guys that can keep his QB upright.

The Eagles have fallen short quite a bit, but I can't criticize them for picking high in the trenches, or trading when all else fails.

The loss today was hard to take. Mostly I wanted to punch Eli in his stupid face for that answer touchdown pass right after I thought the Skins had put them away. God I hate him, so dopey looking.

and dan snyder is an asshole. how much money did he waste on that loser albert haynesworth? dan snyder does to the redskins what eric bischoff did to WCW wrestling. he lured away all the big names from WWF with big $$$ contracts, and spent nothing on the writing, scripting, and production value of WCW. all show and no go. same thing with snyder, a super bowl team is not made up of all stars. it's made up of a team that works well together. idiot.

The Nationals shot themselves in the foot over the whole shutting down fiasco. The Redskins have a solid QB and its not like they are out of the playoff hunt.

What are you complaining about? Quit whining, when your NFL team goes two decades before they have a winning season like the Saints did in the past then go ahead and complain.

And try being a Cleveland fan. Year in and out the Browns have a great fan base and following despite the crappy seasons.

I wouldn't even start down that road. There's some weird bubble over DC, where everyone in it actually thinks the Strasburg situation was properly handled. I'm not kidding. Nats fans actually think that Rizzo went about all of that in a reasonable way, even when suggesting they could have limited him and just pushed his season start out to like May/Early June.
