When will 2k be completely solid for games

well after doing some fighting with ACPI all my games now work great! my soundblaster pci512 didn't like sharing irq's with 4 other devices! now I didn't have a problem in win98 cause you could disable and it would reallocate resources, but in win2k it wasn't the case... the ACPI implementation in win2k appears to have the BIG FU seal of quality from microsoft stamped on it. I think thats pretty shoddy, lets hope they make Whistler a bit more friendly for people with older hardware that might need to move their card out of the pack, and onto a free IRQ.

Or rather, the better question to ask is when will games be completely solid for Win2K?

I have not had a problem with games in win2k yet.
I just ditched ACPI and went to Standard PC.
No real problems yet.
down with dos based programs
😀

How do you disable ACPI and go to standard PC???? I haven't seen that option in BIOS? Or do you do it in device manager somewhere?

MGRook, do a quick search for "ACPI" or "APM" you'll come up w/ plenty of threads regarding that topic.

Maverick319: Really? I downloaded it an never installed it. I heard it was just a language update. I will have to install it.

Yeah, its a better question to ask when are new games going to run stable in Win2k... If you are waiting for Win2k to run older dos or win95/even 98 games.. then you will be waiting forever.... BTW, will Whistler run DOS games?... I still have some old, fun games in DOS that I would like to dust off.
