when was the last time you stressed your PC?

I needed an upgrade so I decided to go quad core (q6600) w/ 4GB RAM. I do video once in a while but only with VirtualDub and not even for HD. I finally got around to learning Sony Vegas so now I'm rendering a 1280x720 vid @ 5Mbps, watching a game via PVR, and re-installing UT3 at the same time.

It's funny my prior PC couldn't even run Vegas alone to do anything.

before i uninstalled GTA4 being unsatisfied with the results.

i'll wait til i have a better video card before i try it again.

Crysis and GTA4 are still too much for my system at the resolution and details I'd like: 1680x1050, max details, AF. My 7800GT to 4870 upgrade helped a lot but now my CPU is weak. A fast C2D or Quad would have Crysis fine at max, and a quad I'd be fine with GTA4. I got money for a new badass system anytime but I'm too lazy to research parts and buy. Hell it's been almost a year and I haven't RMA'ed my 250GB drive that I really need the space for. 🙁

Every day. I do motion graphics with after effects, I'm constantly running into a wall with only 4GB of ram, and rendering is Usually decently fast. Q6600.

Oh right I do have F@H I kinda forgot lol, though it only uses one core. I assume I'd have to run two instances, never bothered to look into it more.

Take a look in the DC sub-forum RedSquirrel as the version of BOINC I'm using is running on both of my X2 cores 🙂

My computer gets pretty stressed when I turn it off. I have to push Prozac into one of usb slots just to get it to boot up.

Couple of minutes ago with a Steam update for TF2 (reinstalled from scratch). Somehow it pegged the CPU usage (E6600 @ 3.6GHz) at 100% for quite awhile.

last week when i batch converted a bunch of avchd camcorder videos to blueray format. about 30 minutes worth of maxing my q6600 on a 1:1 ratio. on my old amd64 cpu, i was at a 1:8 ratio which sucked hard
