ie: your average mom and pop store, not counting restaurants/specialized food stores

last time for me was probably July... I went into NYC to go to a hat store.

before that, I couldn't even tell you. I do all my grocery shopping at chain stores (shoprite, whole foods, trader joes), I do all my clothes shopping at the mall, and anything else I buy on the internet.

Yesterday. I went to a small local coffee shop and a corner store.

Can't give a specific date but probably once a month. I ride my bike a lot and the only bike shops here in town are mom and pop so when I need something that's where I go.

Every week. I live in a small town. Chain stores suck for service. I can go to my local grocery and the butcher their will cut anything I like any way I like and do it with a smile vs a sneer that I got at chain stores.

The only thing I buy at a local store is live aquarium critters (fish, corals, plants, etc).

If I had more money (aka, if I could afford to be a bit snobbier) I'd probably shop locally for some of my groceries.

hmm ....

Does Ace Harware count, I go there pretty regularly due to convenience. It's a franchise store owned by an individual, not the corporation. so it's kinda like "mom and pop."

Otherwise, hmm ... just about every time I visit my grandma in Wisconsin I stop at the Renards gift shop just south of Sturgeon Bay to pick up cheese.

I sometimes shop at DiCarlo for beer, which AFAIK, is a single store private owned company.

Of course Ace doesn't count.

Last week. Went to a local plumbing store and bought a new bathroom sink for ~$35. Lowe's and Home Depot both wanted $200+ for a similar size sink(small).
