you have a bad device driver, you should upgrade it to the latest version

i have updated every driver on my system. I have pulled cards, swapped cards, added new cards, nothing helps.

that error clearly indicates that one of your device drivers is bad. without more infoe i couldnt find out which one. but in all probablity it is a 3rd party driver like those super beta nvdia drivers you downloaded from super-happy-overclockers.com

like i said, no overclocking. I have tried the latest drivers from Nvidia as well as the 30.82 and 41.09 revisions.

I have already started a tech. support thread but was unable to get any help. All the RAM has been checked out to be working, PSU is fine.

Edit - Other than that? One BSOD - and that was due to Daikatana. I got the disc free, installed it, tried to play, got halfway through the second level - BAM, BSOD every time.

Gave up. Microwaved the disc.

That was God punishing you for even installing such a bad game on your rig. :p

My RAM passed with memtest86, but it was still causing the BSODs until I relaxed the timings.

I had the same error all the damn time and couldn't fix it. It seems to have gone away now that I had to reinstall my OS this week thanks to the Blaster worm. Might be worth a shot if you've got the time and can back your stuff up.

Used to get IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL on my Tyan S2460 dual XP1800+ rig (HTPC) but then I switched to ECC Registered RAM and it's been rock solid since!

Almost everyday, stupid laptop. Time to format and reinstall fresh again, but first have to have the time.

Can't even do a regedit search without it BSODing...

The only time I have seen a BSOD with XP, it was caused by trying to install it on a dying hard drive. I have never seen one once XP was successfully installed, and I don't recall any hard crashes either.

You have a driver that is touching pageable memory at an IRQL that's too high. This is a bug in the driver.

To attempt to find out what driver it is, you could turn on driver verifier.

Ive seen it on 2 occasions.

1. Had a memory chip go bad. Reinstalled 3 times before i finnaly swapped the chip out and it worked fine after that.

2. Changed the mobo from an ECS to MSI. Had to reformat over that.

I disagree. Even the cryptic sh!t you got with 98 happened for some reason.

For those of you that want to actually see XP melt down with a nice memory overrun BSOD, and you have a DVD drive in your system, toss in Man with the Golden Gun and watch it around the start of the chase scene between Bond and Scaramanga, when Bond drives his car through the window of the dealership. On my Pioneer drive it blows away the whole OS. This is actually a known issue with some of the DVDs of that movie. Other players may be fine, but some (set top as well) will lock and/or refuse to play at that scene. Or if they're on a comp, blow away the whole OS. (BTW, would be interested in knowing if this happens with those watching it on a non-MS OS)

Outside of that, I've only seen it blue-screen on me perhaps twice before.

Last time I used my laptop...
Put it on standby/suspend with my 802.11 card in, removed 802.11 card while it was on standby, immediately got a BSOD when I started it back up.

Moral of the story - don't do that. (And, DLink's drivers suck for causing a BSOD when the card is removed!)

I got the IRQ crash once about 2 years ago with a bad video driver. Other than that XP has been super stable.

I BSOD on both XP and 2K on the same machine. But I know why also. It appears to be due to the fact that my cpu is consistently running at 80C. The side of my case is off. If I put a large desk fan under my desk, it never occurs. If I take that fan away, it starts occuring immediatly. Although, I don't know why it is overheating, as my case is made of aluminum, I have 5 case fans, 3 psu fans, and a 60 dollar heatsink. I've actually swapped heatsinks 3 times. I'm betting that my cpu has some issues.

mb you should try a different arrangement of fans.

also, if the side of your case is open than your fans will not be nearly as effective.

the fact that putting a desk fan under your desk cools the cpu sufficiently should also indicate to you that you don't have your fans working well.

finally, check the goop you have on your cpu. i'm willing to bet your HS is not seated well, you put too much goop or you used bad stuff.

get some ASII, put a dab, only a small dab, it should be a very thin layer of ASII on your cpu and reseat the HS.

i have allways 3-4 BSOD when i boot my xp-machine, so i don't restart anymore... strangely it's only at bootup if it loads XP the probability of a BSOD is quite low (i have always up-times of 1 month and more).. until new drivers are out or critical patches are out

The last time I saw it was over a year ago when I overclock my Ti-4600 to about 325 Mhz.

I can't remeber either. Just swapped out my MB and wanted to see if windows would be ok, and everything booted up fine. all the drivers loaded up I needed and away I went. I will wipe it clean this weekend, but nice I didn't need to right away.
