not necessarily a physical one, but whether it was digitally, a CD, or whatever, when was the last time you listened to a collection of music as the producer intended rather than just listening to the singles or listening to it all on shuffle?

I've been on a bit of a nostalgia trip this week as I've been ripping my cd collection onto my hard drive. I'm a bit surprised at some of the albums I never bothered to rip (and the ones that I did rip were often using differing bit rates and naming schemes because they were all done over such a long period of time).

listening to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness right now for the first time in like a decade

I have a one hour commute, so I have a lot of "me" time in the suv, so I listen to full albums and audio books, etc. Think I listened to albums by Drop Kick Murphys and Springsteen this past week.

I really like putting on a full album. Most times the songs are in an order for a reason.

I think that's part of why I've never had much use for mp3 players for home use; and last time I had a use for a portable player, cd players still made the most sense.

All the time. Ayreon albums for instance, need you to listen to the entire album. I can't imagine just listening to singles. My entire collection only consist of albums. If a band can't consistently make entire albums worth listening to, they're probably not worth my time.

Pink Floyd - The Wall

I threw this on my iPod and have been enjoying it lately. That entire double album is great.

Yesterday. This is how I always listen to music. I don't pick and choose songs here and there very often. Sometimes I'll skip over a track if I decide it's not great at the time, but I'm always listening to full albums in order. I didn't know I was the outsider with that :hmm:

that's what I'm trying to move towards (specifically, only legally-obtained full albums) but I still use a lot of playlists or just shuffle by genre.

every single day

my car has a 6 disk in dash CD changer and it does not play MP3s so i just stick in albums
40 min commute to work. i listen to ~1 each way

at home rarely as i have everything on the computer and just have 1 massive playlist on random. i do however listen to full albums every now and then.
Last week when the new In Flames album came out i have it a few plays through, one with headphones and 1 on the HT

also i only buy albums. never purchased a single (digitally) i have purchased those single release CDs but they generally have 2-4 songs on them

I haven't listened to a full c.d since the rise of the mp3 :( I think the last full c.d I listened to was RATM.

More often than not I'll listen to full albums. The last time I listened to a complete album was yesterday (Frank Zappa: Joe's Garage ... actually released as two albums) and working on another Zappa album right now (Freak Out!).

EDIT: Technically, Freak Out! is a The Mothers Of Invention album

Pretty much every day. It's pretty rare for me to listed to a mix of individual songs. I almost always listen to a full album in it's intended order.

i have an 8 gig USB for my car radio, i have many full albums on it and assuming i like all the songs on it, i'll listen to them all during the times i'm driving which are usually no longer than 10-15 min. other than that i rarely listen to music anywhere else.

what irks me is all the "unkown" albums/tracks or the super long worded tracks or tracks with no album artwork so i see a blank box on my 8" touch screen...kinda annoying, but there are many bands where i don't like many songs on their albums so i mix up the ones i like.

if anyone knows of a good music manager where i can edit stuff easily, download artwork..etc i'm open. All i have is WMP.

I'm in the midst of switching to MediaMonkey for burning all my CD's and managing my portable MP3 players (my iPod and my cellphone)

it's kind of amazing.

i don't need a burner so much, i just move all folders to USB. but i'd like some automated way for it to rename all tracks and move so their all organized and simple as well as download music art.

Much of my music that is in an album is named wierd...like say all the songs from Korn will vary in name like "06_Korn_-_Lead_The_Parade_(Korn_III-_Remember_Who_You_Are)"
while another says " 04_Fear_Is_A_Place_To_Live_Korn-Korn_3-_Remember_Who_You_Are"

i'd rather it just read on my LCD as "03-Fear is a place to live" ...cause its all in the same album folder anyway, so its not like i need to keep seeing who sings it and what album it is with 50 dashes and underscores in it.

Then there is my music where i have 1 or 2 songs from each album, that makes things even worse, especially on my ipad cause its splits them up into albums individually and its not as easy to listen to them all at once without making a playlist

plus all the ones that have no artwork, so i see a blank box...ugh
