I used to catch them with my bare hands, and it hurts like hell the fews times that I was bitten by them.

I also catches scorpions, snakes, spiders, and geckos among many other things with my bare hands.

IMHO, centipede & millipedes are beautiful insects and isn't something that one should fear.

Come to FL, all our jungles are long bulldozed and we have all kinds of creepy crawly things everywhere. They're all trying to get in my house.

Some people have allergies!
Yes I don't think people should kill them for the sake of doing just that.
That said, if I saw one nearby I'd would definitely walk away and fast. I saw a video of one kept captive killing a mouse and it was brutal. I prefer not to touch things that can bite. :)

I was stung by a sea urchin years ago while diving along a reef. I thought it was cute and was gently touching its spines when one impaled my finger and produced a throbbing pain much worse than the worst wasp sting I've felt. I only view them up close now with a lens. ;)

BTW Gekos are quite cute for a lizard. Same for Anoles. Monitors and K dragons? Would not get near 'em! Even the iguanas in the Caribbean get beastly huge and can whip the crap out of you with their tails!

Not a big fan of centipedes.

So glad there aren't any giant ones in NH. The small ones freak me out enough.

spiders/snakes/mice anything else doesn't really bother me

Since were now giving stories its still not as bad a 10+ foot snake sneaking up behind you to within maybe 2 or 3 feet max.

This.

Tarantulas are not deadly to people either. Most Tarantula bites are about as serious as a bee sting, though they might hurt more.

Some topical centipedes might be dangerous to people though. I'm no expert but I've heard that some of them can be quite venomous.

You are a big time perv - quit doing that; otherwise you may end up like Steve Irwin...

You know if I was going to hold something that looks really scary I'd pick up a hickory horned devil caterpillar over that! The HHD looks even scarier yet is supposed to be completely harmless. They are kind of cute actually like a pet dragon!

You might enjoy this.

That thing looks awesome!

Reminds me of a slightly less weird looking caterpillar I found once at camp. I picked it up and played with it for a while, then left it on the picnic table.

The chipmunk came for a visit, noticed it, and ambushed it. That was a seriously high protein snack right there. :awe:
