When using 2 monitors...

What happens to the working size of a Wacom tablet when you have two monitors set up? My tablets touch points are the dimensions of my monitor. I'm wondering if they get halved if I use two moitors. Does this make sense to anyone? I'm thinking that maybe two monitors would give me less tablet space to work from, which concerns me since I don't want to lose my current precision with the pen. I'm looking into having a smaller monitor to hold my palettes while I work on images using my larger monitor. Anyone out there work this way with Photoshop or any other graphics applications?
Thanks
