Yeah, at least mine does. I change my pads before it gets down to the sensor though. Basically there's two sensors, one on the front right and one in the rear left (or vice versa?). When the pad gets thin enough to hit the sensor, the dash will display the warning, but you also need to replace the sensor ($15) if it's triggered.
My mechanic checks the pads when it goes on the lift at each oil change, and he can tell by "experience" and "feel" when it's getting close to the sensor.
