When to Buy? Laptop

I want to get a Dell laptop for Fall semester at college (looking to get within 1-2 months), and I was wondering when would be the best time to buy it as far as deals, promotions, and prices are concerned. I don't know if they have a back to school sale and mark up prices or if the prices are actually lower the closer it gets to Fall. Also has anyone heard anything regarding intel releasing the next wave of faster mobile processors?

Thanks

Wait as long as possible because there are price cuts, new products that are announced and most importantly Dell seems to have their "good" promotions once every 3-4 weeks. The last good promo they had could have netted me a LOADED Dell Inspiron 8200 P4 1.6 for $1,367 with free leather carrying case, free shipping after $100 MIR. So definitely WAIT AS LONG AS POSSIBLE!

I would check IBM's eBay Store at least twice a week, they used to have some great deals on IBM ThinkPad A and T series which were brand new but discounted because they were last year's models. Their inventory is a lot newer now so the deals aren't quite as hot.

Starting 8/12 and 8/26 CostCo is going to have 2 laptops on sale, a Toshiba Satellite and a Compaq Presario.

What's your budget?

wait as long as possible, but you might want to figure out what you can afford and what you want and then watch it like a hawk for the deals to pop up.

I have a toshiba, and love it, but i also hear many good things about dells here so check those two out. IBM's are really nice, but i've always been under the impression that they are a bit on the overpriced side. I could be wrong about that though...

Trying my best to stay under $2800

All you need is $1500-$1700 to get a decent loaded laptop ... I still say wait and get a good deal on a Dell Inspiron 8200, IBM Thinkpad T/R/X, or Compaq 2800.

When Dell has their next "good" sale you can bet it will be in my sig or at least on my website RossWorx.com (which has nothing right now).

Well I want the best screen since my eyes tire easy on small screens and I need all the networking goodies (my campus put in wireless networking yay) as well as DVD :)

I'd never get a compaq laptop. I used to work tech support for them. You wouldn't believe the stuff that went on heh.
