When to become exclusive in a relationship

So I was talking to a friend that I haven't seen in about a month and he tells me that he has an exclusive girlfriend - they just met two weeks ago! Now this isn't some little high school grasshopper - he's damn near 30 years old. I've been seeing a woman regularly for about 2 months now, but I still think it's too early to be committed.

So, after how long in a typical relationship do YOU want to become exclusive? It boggles my mind that people can be so soon...

i pretty much know the type of girl i am asking out because i have been friends with her for at least 6 months. so does that time period fall under >6months (as friends) or weeks (of actual dating)?

i was always under the impression that dating 1 girl meant you cannot date another before breaking it off completely from girl 1.

I wouldn't want a girl to be with another guy when I'm "with" her.

You're only not exclusive if you actually have other people you're dating at the time.

If you've been dating some girl for two months, but have not gone out with, slept with or done anything else with any other girl, you're exclusive.

It appears to me that the older people get, the less time it takes to become exclusive. Of course, there are exceptions, but it's just a generalization.

yeah, we're on a schedule.

As far as time? It all depends on the situation. I'd gander two months is a good mark or less is a good mark. I mean if you won't want to be with them all the time then why be with them at all when there is somebody else that you do really click with?

It is not a time issue. It is simply a matter of whether or not the two of you have an implied date for Friday or not...

No kidding. It'd be painful if he missed and got you in the brown eye instead of her.

How can you put a timestamp on something like that?

You really can't, and it all depends on the maturity of the two.

There was a women on Who Wants to be a Millionaire a few nights ago who her husband proposed to her 3 days after meeting her, and they've been married for 2 years.

IMHO, 3 days is fvcking crazy, and approaching desperation.

It all depends. I dated a girl over the summer, and everything moved really quickly, we were exclusive in 2 weeks, and things escalated quickly from there.....but seems everything was quick in that one, including the relationship itself, as it only lasted 2 months. My most serious girlfriend I was seeing for about a month before we were 'official'. Meanwhile I've been dating certain girls on and off for over a year, and still haven't felt right pushing it to the next level.

Not saying one way is right or wrong....all depends on the situation.

You can't. I'm just curious about when it generally happens for most people.
I've had it happen at all different times.
