When there is no way to make friends...

Not, to say that this would ever be possible,

but what would you do in a situation where, you want to make friends with people, but there is absolutely no route or means of going about to do it, without making yourself look awkward, too forward, or desperate?

Like what would be the best thing to do? Just to overstep society's social boundaries and make yourself look like a desperate fool?

Or just sit back lonely until some opportunity comes along.

If I desperately wanted to make friends, I'd try harder at the things I loved. Whether they be computers, mountain climbing / etc. The friends would appear along the way.

Yea, there's still probably some opportunity if I look in the right spot maybe,
its kind of hard because I go to a college where a lot of the friendships are made in the beginning of the year, and cliques seem to be especially exclusive (a lot of ppl knew other ppl going in beforehand, etc) and it just seems like its a lot of work to get past people's "anti-friend barriers"

so sometimes, I'll just kinda walk into ppl's rooms, and throw myself into ppl's lives (ppl on the same floor, the other floor of guys below, and the floor of girls across), and I get the impression that it's not welcomed. (although they will still try to act nice about it)

So maybe the idea, is that I just have to take more of a clever and non direct approach, in order to break into the cliques.

The best friends you will ever have are the ones you make through common interests. Hobbies are very important to most males and the freinds they make pursuing the things they enjoy the most tend to be the friends they have for the longest time. I have always been and always will be a car guy and most of my best friends have all come out of my hobby. When someone shares your passion you are linked to them in more ways than just social events. One of my best friends I met thru another car guy friend of mine about 7 years ago, even though I don't get to see him much becasue he lives 50 miles away we speak on the phone almost daily. Find something you truly enjoy doing and you will automatically meet friends along the way, unless you are a complete annoying pain in the ass.

Sports. I made lots of friends playing basketball. I made some new friends by praticing with the girls' team. Its mostly common interest. Some girls can play ball.

whatever you do, don't make friends with a girl that very closely shares your interests. pretty soon you'll get attracted to her but you don't want to spoil the friendship and it will drive you crazy
