When the hell did the Dixie Chicks start doing Fleetwood Mac covers?

I'm taking a drive and listening to the radio today...DJ comes on. "New from the Dixie Chicks - Landslide" and the song starts playing. About 30 seconds into it, I was like... WTF! This isnt new! Fleetwood Mac did this first.

Drove home. Sure enough. Its on the DC's new album and the lyrics came from an old Fleetwood Mac ablum in 97.

Still a nice song though. :)

I'm not a fan of their music, but I really like that Dixie Chicks song. I gotta download the Fleetwood Mac version and see which one is better.

Just think Stevie Nicks solo. Thats about it. I'm 95% sure it was off "The Dance" album.

I just listened to the Fleetwood Mac version. IMO i think the Dixie Chicks version is a lot better...but maybe I should listen to this version more. I'm going to download the Smashing Pumpkins version now. :D

That is the same song, same basic performers (Stevie Nicks), diffent recording, ie., 22 years later, guitar is louder, some different musicians, etc,... Dance is a "reunion" Album after years and years of a bitter Fleetwood Mac break up.

I love Fleetwood Mac.
My (now ex) GF was not such a fan, thinking they were old and not hip.
She goes off to see her sister's boy friend's (Jimmy Chamberlin) band and they do Landslide.
She comes back, and say, "Ok, you were right. Fleetwood Mac is cool."

Dude, they're still COUNTRY. They use a friggin' banjo, which, IMO is only one step above an accordion.

I am now reminded of the Far Side cartoon:

"Welcome to heaven, here's your harp."
"Welcome to hell, here's your accordion."

Fleetwood Mac has been around so long and in so many forms, hell everyone covers their stuff and some do quite well with it.
Just ask Santana about black magic woman. Stevie's on the new Sheryl Crow album. There is a rumor going round that the Mac may be touring again this spring sans the McVies. But hey it's just all a zoo to me

I remember like a few months ago (summer some time) the Dixie Chicks were on Leno and this was the song they performed and it was off their latest CD.

BTW, I also agree that the Smashing Pumpkins is my fav. version of Landslide that I've heard. (Out of Fleetwood Mac, Dixie Chicks & SPs)

Great, timeless song. Tori Amos does my favorite cover of it but I think the best version is the original (or perhaps the live version from "The Dance").

Theres nothing quite like the sight of an asian guy in a honda listening to country...which gives me all the more reason to do it more often.
