When Americans cops do something for their fellow Americans, why should we not note the facts. It keeps us fair and balanced. Just like all Americans, some are damn good and then again, some are aholes. But most are somewhere in between.

True, it's very rarely do you see or hear people saying good things about our law enforcement. I personally have had good experiences with them.

On a side note, more people should take CPR and first aid classes. It's a great thing to learn and you never know when you might need it.

:thumbsup: We all know there's a lot of good cops out there, just as there are some bad ones. They should get credit when they do a good job just like they should get slammed when they screw up.

OP, you're right in that we tend to only hear (and consequently focus) on the bad things.

Everyday, there are tons of cops out there who do a great job in a stressful career. We just rarely hear about them. My thanks to those cops.

We just hear a lot of bad stuff about law enforcement because that's what get's reported on most and what catches people's ear. What we don't hear is the outstanding good most of the time and that is way more than any bad they do.\\

Cops are supposed to do good. The good stuff isn't newsworthy because that is their job. On the other hand, when they fuck up and don't do good, it is newsworthy because it is out of the norm.

First off, these cops should be commended... as should most of them.

But as for the negative view that so many seem to have of law enforcement offers, I think that what upsets people is not so much that some of them are "bad apples." Rather, it's that when one of them does do something bad, so many of others seem to side with the bad cops against the public at large. And so the whole idea that they're here to protect and serve us goes right out the window.

Get rid of the so-called "blue code of silence" and you'll also get rid of most of the public's distrust of the police.
