When taking a turn, SUV drivers do not have their own lane!

At this point in time, I would like to share my near-death experience while sitting in a friend's car a while back. Her MOM was the one driving it, and it was some family sedan.

Three lanes turning right (opposite of US over here), and we were in the extreme right lane.

First mistake, she started moving out when there were still cars coming in the opposite direction. Those cars had to swerve to avoid her. She stared straight ahead and didn't seem to realise what had happened. Me, I was trying very hard to move to the other side of the back seats, so I won't get killed if the van had plunged right into our car.

Then green turning arrow came on, and so all 3 lanes started turning. She went from extreme right lane to the extreme left lane when we finished the turn. WOOHOO!! Yes! 3 lanes turning at once, and she somehow didn't realise that! ALl this while the guys behind her were swerving and HONKING the hell out of her.

I really didn't know if she didn't realise, or if she thought people SHOULD give way to her cos she was a woman driver.

All I told my friend at the end of the ride was to let me know when her mom was driving. I'd make sure I wasn't on the roads then. 🙂

Hell, this story could be about my mother.....

As a kid I would never ride with her driving unless I absolutely had too. She would drift into other lanes (even when going straight) without noticing it. Then she would get angry at the drivers honking at her. She never had a clue why they honked. Then there were the green lights. When she was first at a light, when it turned green she would just sit there. It literally tooks a few full seconds before she realized the light was green. Often by the time she started to accelerate, it would have turned yellow already. Of course, she got angry when people behind her honked. She never knew why. The thing that confused me the most was when she was driving down a very clearly empty street with no lights, she would hit the brakes and harshly slow down, and sometimes completely stop for no reason at all. Just complete at random she would do this. I can see not being aware of stuff, but what in the hell was she stoping for?

Well, after this being said, somehow she hasn't ever caused a serious accident. Damned lucky.

Edit: Oh, I forgot, she recently drives an SUV. I fear for those around her

Wait until the next versions of SUV's come out

Highway 1 mpg, city .3 mpg 😛

lol, how do they transport those anyway?

I am assuming big roads 😀

Or did you mean when they make them?

Probly lots of little parts with tab a and tab b printed on then 😀

The smaller ones go on wide-load semis, the bigger ones get broken down and moved via rail

I've got a few pics of a service truck that was ran over by one of those.
Hey, EyeMWing, watcha drivin? I've got a Topkick with a 22k GVWR. Right now I weigh in at a spritely 17k and 20' long.

Post em man.

Makes the bigfoot trucks look like ants and can just imagine what that could do to a normal truck 😀

2 pics at 22kb each...Anybody want to host or have a link to Rossmans pic hosting site?

When I drive my dad's 3/4 ton, long bed, extended cab, 4WD pickup and can make a U turn on a 3 lane road, and I see a trucker w/ a 20' trailer do it, and I see some numbnut in a Civic NOT do it. I wonder if those people need so spend more time working on parking skills in an empty parking lot at night.

It seems that every now and then as I take a left turn, not a short one though, some SUV driver has to come right into my way because their turn wasn't wide enough. So far I've slowed down enough so they didn't hit my car and were practically right in front of me once the turn was finished and onto the lane.

So far though, they had one more thing in common besides the huge car. They were women :Q :Q

Before this turns into a flame war, I don't hate SUV's or women 😀

Oh. never had a big vehicle syndrom. I see it all the time. That's what it is.
