Real men don't use hooks to catch fish. Real men jump into a freezing stream, catch the fish with their bare hands, and then tear into the fish's delicious flesh with their teeth. This makes cooking unnecessary.

I don't really fish anymore, but I never used gloves. For catch/release type fishing, you should be using barbless hook. Much nicer for the fish.

Only time I use gloves is when I used to ice fish and that's because it's cold out. :p

I haven't fished since I was a little kid. Never used gloves then.

Why use gloves?

I use my hands to pull the fish off my spear. which, incidentally, is also my hand.

Depends on my mood, generally for catfish i'll use pliers or a glove to hold them since the slime makes them rather slippery. If I'm out for perch, I generally won't use something to grab them until I get stuck by a fine, which hurts like a mother f'er.

i don't think i have ever used gloves, and i've caught quite a few fishies

i would probably wear some if they were available and they were really cool rubbery grippy fisherman gloves. that would be awesome

Nothing sucks more than catching a fish five minutes in and being miserable the rest of the day and keeping your hands in your pockets because you forgot your neoprene gloves.

If it's above freezing, no dice on the gloves.
