When should the police use a tazer or gun on someone?

Woman getting tazered

Dont get me wrong i think being a policeofficer is a tough job and a necessary one but i dont think you need to tazer someone for being an ignorant ahole.

On the video the woman is annoying as heck. And i would never be friends with a person like that. But i certainly dont think she deserved to get an electric shock.

Also, i found it a bit troublesome when the police officer said that she tried to take a swing at his partner. WTF, she was on the floor being lit up.

Anyway, it is my opinion that a police officer should use reasonable force and never violent force for traffic violations unless the woman reacted with violence not stupidity.

what are your thoughts?

She could have took a poke at him when he opened the pass door. Basically do as the police tell you and you do not get tazed. He wanted her out of the vehicle, ie a dangerous weapon, and she refused. Simple escalation of force, he asked, he told, he went hands on and she resisted, he shocked. I have no problem with it.

That said, I do think he was a bit early on it, but it is my perception.

She deserved every volt she got. Speeding or not she could have made that a lot easier on herself.

I dont think she deserved it. And I agree she could have made a lot alot easier on herself. She is a dork for sure.

But, I think a police officer needs to have more a bit more patience. Of course if he felt physically threaten and not really annoyed (I think he was annoyed, from the video i dont not believe the police had any apprehension of the woman driver) then I think such force is justified.

Again when i watch this video. I dont think it was another rodney king. But i found the police lack of patience and dishonesty (at least that is what i think when he is saying she took a swing at his partner) troublesome.

Being a cop is a huge responsibility and his actions are going down a dangerous slipperly slope.

My only issue with what the cop did was tazer her a second time just becuase she could not put her hands behind her back. Since you can hear him say they all have been tazed before, he should know that the whole point of a tazer is to immoblize a person's muscle system and it takes a while to regain control of the body. Now how in the heck can she move her arms if he tazed her. :confused:

Otherwise I saw no problem in the situation.

This video is hilarious. She keeps asking him why he pulled her over, as though she did nothing wrong, claiming he had no legal grounds on which to pull her over and that it's because he's a racist, when he tells her she was speeding. She denies, he tells her about the radar. Then later she asks again why she's getting pulled over and he lists a broken windshield, no seatbelt, a brake light out, and then later when she asks why she's being arrested it turns out her license had been suspended. She's stupid enough to drive around in a car like that, without wearing a seatbelt, speeding, and with a suspended license. Then she starts b1tching at the cops for no good reason, just because she's a b1tch. I don't think he actually tazed her a second time, he just threatened to do so. The actual tazing wasn't really necessary at the point that he did it, unless she actually did take a swing at the other cop (perhaps when he opened the passenger door?), in which case I feel it was warranted. She was being hostile and nothing short of physical harm was going to stop her, so I feel the tazer was the perfect solution for that scenario. However, if she didn't actually take a swing at the cop (even though she said she didn't, she said a lot of stuff that was pure bullsh1t in the video, about stuff that happened earlier in the video even, so I would take her "I didn't take a swing at him" claim with a grain of salt), then I think it could have gone on a little longer before it got to that point, but ultimately I think she would have been tazed anyway just because there's no way she was gonna cooperate with anything less.

Eh, she was refusing to get out of the car. The officer had the option of tazing her or forcefully pulling her out of the car. If he had to grab her and pull her out he probably would have at least bashed her head against the car trying to get her out, at which point she would have claimed police brutality. I agree with ELopes though that she probably wasn't able to put her hands behind her back after the first tazing and not just being belligerent.

A cop takes his life in his hands every time he makes a traffic stop. If someone is going to be an ass they should be tazed immediately.

IMO, she was given a choice. She chose NOT to comply with what she was politly asked to do. She was then told if she did not comply, she would be tazed. It was made very clear. It is like a 4 year old, dont touch it or you will spanked.

Get out or you will be tazed.

She didn't.

Sucks to be her! But I have no sympathy!

The hogs do not have to use phasers on innocents women. I would dare a hog to use one on a man or me he would then know what true pains were.

So let me get this straight a hog goes to a farm and finds a caged up cow and decides to phaser it and show his tuffness. Let him phaser a real man or me and if we are uncaged and that hog would have an uncaged death match. He may know phasers but I know grappling.
