When should I replace my CPU

I bought my 3200+ about 2 months ago for 152$ and now I feel like kicking myself cause I can get a 3800+ for less than that at ZZF.

My question is whether I should buy a 3500+ for 115$ and sell my 3200+ for about 145$ (that's about what I'd get for it where I live) and then do the same thing in a couple months when the x2-3800+ comes down (hopefully) or should I just wait a couple months and then upgrade to x2-3800+.
The reason this may not be a good idea is cause a I may be stuck without a computer for about a month between processors while I wait for the new one to be brought in.

BTW I buy my hardware in the states and I get it brought in by friends and family who fly here (if the message was a little unclear)

check pricing for 3800+ or wait until X2 3800+ and 4400+ gets cheap.

If you can make a profit selling processors, then good luck to you an entrepeneur.

If you are looking to get a performance increase, the 200MHz steps in speed for the 3500+ and 3800+ don't make a major difference and can be achieved easily by overclocking. The X2 3800+ is effectively two of your 3200+ cores, and would be a significant upgrade if you feel your 3200+ isn't cutting it. As ever, it's a matter of whether you are prepared to wait for price cuts...

LOL. I purchased my 3200+ Venice E3 about 7 months ago at 152USD. I'll probably end up selling this thing for less than 80 bucks. Yeah I feel like kicking myself too because I'll be losing half the value of the purchase price. That's just how it goes I guess. I can't wait for dual core X2s/Opterons to go down in price so I can pick one of those up (don't feel like going Conroe due to crazy demand). Gotta get 2GB of RAM ordered as well...Just sold my 1GB and got 512MB stick free from the buyer.

I guess the other question is that if the chip was serving your needs fine before the price drop, then it still is after and the rest is psychological (still stinks, I know - the 3800+ is now around $169 which is what I paid for my Opteron 146 2 months back).

I'd just hang tight for the dual core drop (that's what I'm doing too...) and forget losing 50% on this single core and probably another 50% on its replacement between now and the drop in price on the dual core. If you wait maybe you only get $50 for your chip...either way I think you'll be ahead vs the loss on two of them...
