Reason is that I am buying a few dvd's from teh UK. Problem is its Region 2. Either i got to watch it on my computer (with dvd genie - my drive is unlocked - though I dont know if the software will write to teh firmware or what).

The reason I am asking is because I would like to Rip it and then burn it back to DVD-RW so I can play it on any dvd. But I dont want the region coding to transfer.

Also where can I get a good "multi-zone" (PAL/SECAM/NTSC with output NTSC) VHS - this is worse comes to worse.. they have most of what I want on VHS.

Ripping shouldn't be a problem at all, of course I can't guarantee anything :)

well we will see what happens.

I am going to rip a small section of a region 2 dvd.. take it on cdr to work and then burn it there into a dvd-rw and see what comes up.

Damn that ripped SO FAST!!!!

I dont understand why my friends say it takes forever to rip a dvd. I ripped one chapter in less than 2 minutes.
This is on a P2-400Mhz.. I still havent got around to updating my machine with the new Athlon 1.4Ghz...
