When searching online for some software, i encounter much cheaper products that are labeled as OEM packaging. Does this not mean that they have been opened and returned or something of the sort?

I know its the wrong forum, i just need some quick hits.

Ooooohhh. Making sense now. Ok so if i ordered like windows XP that was OEM, i would just get the cd? I dont need any documentation or instructions anyway! Is this a generally safe way to go?

it just means its not in retail packaging. for instance, a drive would be wrapped up but no cable or instructions. a videocard doesnt come with games.

its cheaper because thers no fancy packaging. this is usually how its delivered to the shops that build computers.

the used equipment would be called "reconditioned" or "refurbished"

Think about the acronym - OEM. Then think about what it stands for - Original Equipment Manufacturer. Then think about what each of those words mean seperately, the together.
