When is the next round of price cuts due?

I'm close to ready to upgrade from the current socket A system. I am almost certain to go AM2 (mATX motherboard selection is miserable for C2D), so is it worth waiting a bit to see if Intel price cuts push down AMD prices with them? I can wait until late february at the most, though I'm getting itchy now.

Second related question a bit OT for this forum:

Are there any good tweakable mATX C2D boards that might help me change my mind about platform?

..I hear April is when another price reduction may occur.

Yup. Start of the second quarter practically everything in the Conroe range will move down on price notch on the scale, and a few new processors will be added; the E6320 and E6420 (basically just the E6300 and E6400 with 4Mb cache) if I recall correctly.

According to this Dailytech article the new prices and products regarding C2D are for "Q2'07" which mean as early as April 1 or as late as June 30. I'd guess mid to late April based on past releases.

Sounds like a bit too long a wait, so it looks like I'll be ordering an AM2 system sooner rather than wait to see the new low end from Intel.

Ah well, I have no problem with that, I was just hoping to get the higher performance headroom, but truly I don't need the power just for a HTPC.

I've noticed over the years that February is usually when AMD did some price cuts.
