I'm not a fan of Ozzy, but I'm also not a fan of music trashing hypocrites who can say someone?s a not a "musician" but obviously knows nothing about music in the first place or about being a musician
I still quite honestly fail to agree with the fact that because I have no respect for that 75 IQ brain dead drug head but happen to like Coldplay it means that I don't know anything about music.

And really how can you call what he does music when he's running on 2 low-compression brain cylinders from all of the neurological abuse he's inflicted to himself but STILL can play concerts and play his own music? The guy can barely talk, let alone put together a coherent sentence or walk in a straight line, and yet what he produces on stage can be considered music? I happen to find that amusing.

That is what I am saying. word to you.
I really don't think I've ever heard someone say "word to you" ...maybe I'm sheltered though.

You do realize it's obvious the only think you know about Ozzy is what you've seen on MTV. Ozzy wasn't always like that. You need to check into Black Sabbath (which basically started the whole Darker Metal side of rock and roll) and then Ozzy's albums.

As far as the substance abuse, hell yeah he's done a ton of drugs, he rocked out in the 70's and 80's. But do you honestly think ColdPlay is sober? You might want to recheck that halo on their heads. 33+ years (Black Sabbaths first album was in 1970) from now do you think they'll be at the top of their mental game and still performing :)

He has gone downhill tremendously and he's not what he was, but that doesnt take away from the fact of what he's done. 30+ years of giving music to metalheads around the world.

This Coldplay DVD (in Dolby Digital) is the sh!t! I bought this today at Walmart for $15...that's a nice price for a live DVD and live CD.

I don't like Coldplay because I think the singer's a whiny, talentless hack. But that's just my opinion; I don't begrudge others for theirs.

I really have never heard Coldplay's stuff (maybe I'd know it if I heard it), but anybody who wants their songs to be like Bohemian Rhapsody is A-OK in my book.

Freddie Mercury rules!

MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

"Coldplay, I liked you better when you were called U2" - Triumph, the insult comic dog

My take on Coldplay is that every generation needs to feel they have a serious band they can listen to. Non-conformist music that was the antithesis of Top 40. Previous decades gave us Bob Dylan in the 60's, Pink Floyd in the 70's, U2 in the 80's, and Pearl Jam in the 90's. We don't really have any good ones now, so bands like Radiohead, Coldplay, and Dave Matthews are filling that void. They don't compare to the bands of the past, but today's fan doesn't know any better. He just listens because he feels it's the enlightened thing to do. It's too bad there aren't better bands to take their place.

That is funny but other than coming from the same island they have very little in common with U2.

Isn't Rush of Blood to the Head a rather recent release?

Yeah, but they just released Coldplay Live 2003

Yeah, I know...but it's not new stuff and Rush of Blood to the Head is pretty recent. Give 'em till summer 2004 maybe?

Personally, I don't know if I could watch them live. They music is too much mood music for me. I really get into it and have to be in a mood to listen to most of it. I think watching them live would ruin it for me.

Yeah, I guess only 3 or 4 songs I haven't heard before. Take some drugs and imagine that they're actually playing in front of you...that might make it better. :p

And the fact that they're a serious, political band that non-conformists feel good about.

OT: Anyone have that 'The Scientist' parody video that was on Mad TV a couple weeks ago? I think it was called 'The Narcissist' and had Michael MacDonald in it
