When is the Mobility 9600 Pro going to show up in more notebooks?

Before anyone say it, I don't want a Sager.

I was hoping for something along the lines of the Compaq X1000 with the 9600.

Why has the 9600 shown up in a Sager and now Apple BEFORE any other company like Dell or HP?

Man this waiting is killing me!

because dell and hp don't target an enthusiast market. They go with the lowest price/unit with 'acceptable' performance, which is why you see them with nvidia, or the older ati 9000 part.

by the time the 9600 pro is common in notebooks, the next, and possibly next two generations will be showing up in the enthusiast market.

We could hope that 'upgradeable' notebooks, with a standard socket for vid adapters would make this a non-issue. I don't really see it ever happening in an environment where you have to be fairly strict with regards to heat management, though.

I heard a rumor that the US market Compaq nc6000 and nc8000 may be announced in the next week or so.

The IBM R50p will have it. It'll be announced around October 17.

Where did you read this and do you have a link?

I am wondering why the Mobility Radeon 9600 has not shown up in more notebook machines. It is the clear winner against the nVidia solution.

Just wait boys and girls, we were recently briefed that another big vendor will showcase M10, and will probably be announced in a month.

Can anyone say I hope its Dell? lol. Now if they would stop using such a junky sound chip in their 8600...

Put it in a D800, slim up the notebook, and add a scrolling feature (like the x1000s) and we have a winner!!!!!!!

it isn't dell., btw. 🙂

🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 there goes the upgrade path for my D800

why so cryptic?

That model is the NP4760. I cannot imagine why you would not go with Sager, I've had NP8560 for about 3 years now with no problems, except for paint chiping on front. If you want to pay more for an inferior notebook, that's your loss. Although I'd rather have an Athlon 64 based notebook, I've only seen one planned the Arima A520, which is only going to have a M9C( I assume ATI 9000), and no raid, inherently weaker than the best sager which has been about out about a month now? Why does AMD even bother to release high end mobile chips if no manufactureres will use them?

Yea im in the same boat.Waiting for a 15.4 inch widescreen with at least a partial metal caseing, pentiumM and 9600. I was hopeing Gigabyte would come tru for me, but I guess they do not want to sell the N60 in North America. Toshiba is comeing up with a nice notebook soon, but it has an nvidea card. The Dell has no metal caseing, and I really just dont trust the build quality.Still waiting...
