When is the best time to buy?

hey,
I've been researching components for a new build, and I'm wondering when the best time to buy them would be. Do you think the prices for most things will go down a bit after X-Mas? Also, do you think the 680i mobos will go down in price once the RD600 comes out officially? And last, but not least, do you think the 8800GTS is going to go down in price any time soon?

Basically I'm wondering:
1)will prices go down after x-mas?
2)will prices for either 680i and 8800 go down anytime soon? If not, then I will just get the parts right after Christmas...

They won't go down for Christmas, not likely anyway.

Maybe up though 😛

Afterwards i suspect we'd see more gradual price decreases.
 
In that case, I might as well order now (hey, I don't mind. It'll be one hell of a xmas present I'm getting myself 🙂 )

I doub't think they will go up for x-mas but I don't think they will go down as he said gradual price decrease.

btw don't waste your money on a 680i chipset and get a 8800GTS that should save you some money right there.
 
The best time to buy is when you absolutely need the hardware and can wait no longer. There's always something faster or cheaper round the corner.
 
From what I saw last year, the after Christmas sales are best, unless something gets replaced by a new model later. But then, this was from looking at the local stores...I hadn't gotten into using the internet, at the time.

I think they probably go down a little bit when ATI's next generation video card gets released. I think that's scheduled for January.
