When is the 6800 Ultra going to hit stores?

Hello,
Does anyone know he actual release date for the 6800 ultra? All I have seen are Sold Out and backordered and crap like that. No I don't want to order online for $650 so I can pay too much and get it no sooner. Doom3 is coming and I built a killer system and I need the dam card.

Anyones help is appreciated

Nick

This nonsense is making me angry too.... I would pay a reasonable amount for a card (~325 for a GT) but the prices are out of control and show little signs of going down any time soon.

Yeah, I was lucky enough to get the $339 GT from Provantage, but those deals are few and far between (the ones that actually come through, anyway). It does seem like they just keep building the price structure up with every new video card generation...

Plus, the supply problems that everyone seems to be having (what, 3-4 months after launch?) are basically letting retailers charge whatever the hell they want for the cards.

Well, not really. You will pay 400+ for these new cards. Fry's has the GT's for 400 which isn't bad for a store. Online, I'm surprised the retailers aren't charging like 600-800 for these cards. You know there will be people willing to buy it at whatever cost.

From what I have heard if you preorder from eVGA.com they will ship August 2nd. The Ultras that is.

Technically the Ultras have shipped, as I've seen them go on sale a couple of times already, but they're in low supply, so they're selling out quickly every time.😱

Everything is selling out big time. Tried to get your hands on a GT even lately? Generally you have to pay at least $430 to find one of THOSE in stock. So good luck finding a Ultra for ANY price.

not like things have changed in the last few years. I originally bought my TI4600 the day it came out for 400. Now 2.5 years later I pay the same amount.....given its the GT. But the Ultra will eventually be 400...hehhehe

I'd be curious to know where the bottleneck is. Is the demand just so high that supply can't meet it or is this an unusually low supply and, if so, why.

The short supply of GDD3 some card makers are putting 2.0ns and overclocking it to get more cards out.

yeah I don't get it... Why can all the GT's run at Ultra levels fine??? I mean all the do is add another .1 volts to the gpu and slap a bigger heatsink on it... whats the big deal? you would think Ultras would be out in just as many numbers as the GT's

I'm tired of this BS, I can't find it anywhere B&M, not even fry's
Just noticed compuplus.com has it in stock for $420 (+15 s&h), which is starting to look pretty good (hot deal ?)
