eagle,

Take a look at my post above. All you have to do is edit the game config file (assuming you're trying to get Q3 OGL engine games to work). Add the line "seta r_displayrefresh 75". Don't include the parenthesis and set the value to whatever your monitor can handle.

What do u have against third party software? Nvidia refresh rate fix is a great program set it up once and that's it until u decide to change the drivers. If u don't want to do this there is one other way with a pro and con. In dxdiag u can override the refresh to whatever u want so there's your fix for directx games. The con no opengl fix other than using third party software.

I have nothing against 3rd party software. As I stated above, I was getting minidumps on reboot and when I uninstalled NV Refresh Rate Fix the problem went away.

Oh my gosh! Is there something wrong with Bill Gates deciding a 60MHz refresh rate is great for everybody?

I'm not running a Q3 engine based game though.

There is a way though, I've did it before. I remember Tonec had a site on how to do it. In the registry you goto class and stuff then this long number that ends with a 96E, then to your max res, and change the 55-160 to read 85-160 or something. And it worked once before but hasn't worked a few other times!

<< "60 Hz should be enough for anyone" >>

Hehe not when you see your screen flickering and you`re use to 85-100hz in gaming ;).

Its not going to get fixed by MS or the graphic folks. Its the game developers that are going to fix it in the new game engines giving us refresh options along with the standard options.

The thing that concerns me more is the "ignore vsync setting issue in Direct3D" that both companies seem to have. nVidia never had this problem but the newer 23xx drivers mysteriously have it. It would completely suck if MS was forcing the vendors to have vsync enabled in Direct3D.

Hey whatdya know, my Voodoo Banshee does the same thing. Its obviously an MS WIN XP issue. That "60Hz is good enough for anyone" is great!!! Also, RainCity, that basically excludes all previous 3D games. MS should fix it, not the game developers, well they should do it too.
